Séarlas woke up in his bed. That was fine. For the first few moments, it seemed normal enough. After a minute or so he realized there was both a lack of David in his bed, and a lack of Charlie-noises. No dog claws clattering on the fine wood floor.. And no sleeping dog annoyingly at the foot of his bed like normal. He opened his eyes, not to his American home in New York, but...

Ireland. He was back in Ireland..? He closed his eyes again. Must have been a dream. A few seconds later he opened them up--still Ireland. Had he gotten awfully drunk, and come back to Ireland, and he just didn't remember..? Seemed wrong. He sat up slowly, rubbing his hands over his eyes to wake himself up. He was definitely back in Ireland.

It made him...nervous, honestly. Séarlas couldn't remember coming back there, but he must have. He padded out of his room, and into the kitchen, starting the kettle up, and feeling a bit like he was in some sort of dream. This was wrong. He was supposed to be in the States. He stood staring down at the kettle trying to remember the previous night. And it was easy; he and David had fallen asleep on his bed together. In New York. He was absolutely certain he had not been in Ireland. So how was he here..?

And where was David?! Cursing himself for taking this long to even think about calling the man, he disappeared back into his bedroom, getting dressed at the same time that he dialed up David's cell phone, and held it to his ear. "David? Ya there?"

David was sitting in his kitchen drinking coffee. Charlie whined at his feet until he tossed a bit of bacon down to the dog and she snapped it out of the air and scurried away. Silly thing. David grinned and shook his head at her. Near the counter he could hear Marie rooting through the cabinets. "No biscuits?" she whined. "Ah...must be out, I'll grab some today," he said as he took another sip of his coffee. Typical morning. Nothing off.

Séarlas' call came a few minutes later. Marie picked his phone off the charger and dropped it on the table in front of him as she landed a little kiss on the top of his head. "It's your boyfriend," she said with a snicker. Davey rolled his eyes and picked up the phone. It was Séarlas, and he knew Marie wasn't fond of the man, but he was happy that she did her best to play nicely. He smiled and picked up the phone.

Immediately, something was wrong. "Yea, hi Séar," he said in a serious tone. Séarlas didn't usually sound so...shaken. David ran through a course of things that could have happened in his head, but the only one that seemed likely was that Séarlas had a vision that was unpleasant. "Whatsa matter? You have a vision?" He looked around the kitchen for the car keys wondering if it was crucial enough that he drive over the four blocks to see his friend. Sometimes these things could be really bad. He knew that better than anyone but Séarlas. Across the kitchen Marie wrinkled her nose in displeasure and slunk from the room. A tiny feeling of guilt ate away at David's stomach...she was unhappy with him.

He sounded calm enough. Serious, but that was probably a reaction to Séarlas' own distressed voice. He made an effort to calm himself. David was okay. Wherever he was... he was fine. "No, I don't.. think so.." he answered slowly, which was probably not the most reassuring thing. A thought occurred to him, and he wandered back into his bedroom with his phone, and looked in the mirror. No, no he had not just had a vision.

"Where are ya right now?" he asked after a moment, figuring he'd just have to get his answers one at a time. Maybe everything was fine, and Séarlas just... was in Ireland for some bizarre reason.

He had a wierd feeling about all of this, and he couldn't put his finger on what it was.

No vision? Well that was good, but he didn't sound so sure. Perhaps he had woken up from a nightmare or something and was feeling out of place, but he'd never really heard Séarlas in a situation where he'd not been able to laugh it off before. At least not one that wasn't very serious.

Where was he? Well it was a Sunday morning. He didn't really go to church, so where else would he be? He'd only spoken to his friend the day before, or the day before that. If he were leaving, Séarlas would have known about it. "I'm in my kitchen?" he said with a perk of an eyebrow as he stood and approached the sink to dump his coffee. Suddenly, brunch didn't seem as appealing to him. Charlie was already sniffing at the beans on his plate. "In my house five blocks from yours. You know that...right?" He was uncertain now. It sounded like something had happened and he was getting more and more worried.

"Séarlas, are ya...sure you're okay?"

Séarlas frowned at David's answer, and ran the words through his mind several times. What did that mean? I'm in my kitchen. He wouldn't say that unless.. Why would he call Séarlas' kitchen his? It didn't bother Séarlas of course, it could be his kitchen, but he just...knew that David wouldn't call it as such. That was all. His confusion was confirmed, solidified when he said he was five blocks from Séarlas'. "Why?" he asked, before he could stop himself.

All he could think was that he'd gone to visit Marie for some reason. But that wasn't quite right, and David sounded confused that Séarlas didn't know where David's house was. "Yeah, I.. of.. I know that," he said quietly. He was feeling more lost by the second, and a little panicked, too.

are ya...sure you're okay?

It took him a minute to answer, but when he finally did, "No.. I'm not. Sure, I mean. Look, I've gotta go-sorry for botherin' ya." And he hung up, right quick, and stared down at his phone.

It was his old phone; the one he'd had before he went overseas. What was that all about?

And as quickly as he had appeared, Séarlas was gone again and David was alone. He blinked at the phone as Marie's face peeked around the corner, looking disgruntled, and watched her husband for an explanation. David frowned at her. "I have no idea what's going on, but he said he wasn't okay so I'm gonna go over there." He turned to go out the door and Marie blocked his way.

"Let him deal with his own problems," she whined. David rubbed her arm lightly and shook his head. "I don't think he would have called unless he really needed help," he said softly. "Then why didn't he ask for help?" she demanded, getting a bit nastier. David shrugged and sort of inched away. "I dunno," he said. "But I think I should go over...just for a minute. I'll be back in a bit." She pulled away in a huff and stomped off into the bedroom. David sighed, feeling bad immediately, but he knew Séarlas wasn't okay and that prompted him to turn, grab the car keys, and run out the door.

Less than a minute later he was parked in front of the house and hurrying up the walk to the front door. He knocked as he entered, the O'Reilly house being the only building he'd walk in without an invitation, and called gently to his friend. "Séar?" He half expected to need to call an ambulance so he gripped his phone anxiously through his pocket. "Séarlas, you here?"

Séarlas wasn't sure he wanted David to come over. He wanted time to figure out what the hell was going on, so he could steady himself, and not feel so lost. He stared down at his phone, and then set it on the counter and left it there, not wanting to touch it. He didn't know what was going on, but something was seriously wrong.

He made his way into the living room and turned on the television with nervous hands, flipping over to global news. Had something happened? World Cup was going on, that was normal. Horrible things happening in the Middle East, that was...admittedly normal.

He didn't watch much more before he heard the door open, and David came in. Séarlas' heart all but froze, because he didn't know what to expect, or if he was just going bonkers. It took him a minute to answer. Finally he turned and headed back into the entry room of his home, and found David there. He paused in the doorway because he just.. he was just not sure what to expect.

"You didn't have to.. come over.." he said slowly, hesitant because he was still trying to figure out where David actually lived.

Five blocks down, with Marie.

There. Likely it was his clairvoyance coming into play, filling in one or two of the blanks. And as soon as he realized, knew, that David was somehow married to Marie again, his face went a little pale and he turned away from his boyfrie---his 'best mate,' and touched a hand to his mouth, holding in the panic he was feeling.

Séarlas looked like he was going to vomit all over the place. "Oh....no no no no!" He flitted across the room and put an arm around Séarlas' back and, if he was allowed, steered him toward the couch to sit him down. "Séar, what the hell is goin' on mate?" he asked with a bit of an exasperated huff. The house seemed normal. Everything seemed to be alright, but here was Séarlas acting as if he had just seen a ghost.

He sat down next to his friend and found he had trouble figuring out where to look. He wanted to make sure Séarlas was okay, but it was very uncomfortable to see him so emotional and he felt as though he was invading the man's privacy. It was distressing though...Séarlas wasn't often so shaken. There were few things that it could have been, but...

Miach? No, he hadn't spoken to Miach in years, how could it have been something involving his brother? He was in America after all, and they hadn't heard a peep out of him. Perhaps something awful had happened. Perhaps he had gotten word that Miach died or something. David blinked. He hadn't seen the kid since he was in high school. Would he even recognize him if he saw him? A guilty feeling in him told him he probably wouldn't be very upset if that happened.

"Séarlas please tell me what's going on."

"Davey-" he tried to protest, yet didn't really try to stop his friend at all, from pulling him over to the couch. No resistance at all on that front, whatsoever. He sat, and leaned forward to rest his head in his hands, partially just to hide his too-pale face. He was frightened. He didn't know what was going on, and apparently his boyfriend belonged to someone else now, and it was just.. a lot to take in at once. A lot of bad to take in at once.

He didn't respond to David's first question, because he quite simply did not know what to say. He couldn't tell David that they had been lovers, just yesterday. All that would do would... probably offend David, maybe make things horribly awkward between them.

please tell me what's going on.

He took in a deep breath and let it out, forcing himself to be a little more rational, and calm. "I'm sorry, I'm just.." He sought after some explanation, anything at all to tell his once-lover. "disoriented. What's the date?" He sat up a little taller, still sort of avoiding David's gaze, or even looking at him at all.

Disoriented? This didn't seem like he was disoriented. He had seen Séarlas in the worst of situations. He was with him when he found out his parents had died. He was with him through every fight he'd had with baby Miach. He'd seen him cry his eyes out over death, boys, jobs, you name it. He'd seen him have and recover from violent visions before and nothing seemed to disorient him more than whatever was going on.

Then again, he wasn't Sherlock Holmes. His deduction skills were lacking and his confidence even more so. He didn't say a word about his suspicions. "It's the twentieth," he said slowly. "Of June," he added, then after a moment's more hesitation added, "Two thousand and fourteen." His hand was still hovering on his friend's right shoulder blade and David was tempted to call the ambulance. They had mutants on staff who could deal with mutation related events, right? Was this even that?

"Séar, ya look like hell..." he said weakly. He rubbed his hand up and down a little. Something was off about the whole situation. He couldn't even get the man to look at him let alone tell him what was going on. "Can ya tell me what happened? You were fine yesterday..."

Séarlas sighed, knowing he probably seemed ridiculous to David, but he couldn't help it. His boyfriend didn't even remember they had been dating--was married, again, to that witch.

At least the date was right--he didn't know if that was good or bad. It meant that for some reason, what Séarlas remembered...seems to have never happened. What did that mean? Had he gone crazy..? Is that what this was? He certainly felt a little insane at the moment, remembering things that were apparently not true.

"Yesterday?" he asked, sluggishly connecting the dots. He was in the States, yesterday. With David. WHo wasn't married. God, what was going on? "I don't know what's going on, Davey," he admitted. "I just, ah.." How to even begin!?

He took another deep breath. "This is going to sound ridiculous, Davey, but.." He had trouble getting the words out, worried that David would just think he'd gone crazy. "Yesterday, I remember being in the States. I remember being there for months. Working. Not.. not here."

David blinked at him. After he listened to Séarlas' explanation, or lack thereof, he shook his head slowly. "Er...no. You've been workin' here, like normal, and comin' home...like normal. Yeh haven't been to America in...years..." And it had been a relatively unpleasant experience last time, if he recalled correctly.

"Why the states? What...brought you there?" Not that any information would really help him. None of this was making sense...perhaps he'd hit his head or something and didn't remember? David shifted a little to try and get comfortable, but it wasn't working. He stole a glance at the clock. The longer he was over here the more aggravated Marie would get. "Look, I think we should get you to the hospital; Don't worry about watching Rauri tonight, we'll call her grandmother or something, your health is more important." He patted his friend on the head gently, sort of feeling for a temperature, and waited for a response.

Séarlas shook his head, brow furrowing. "No.. I was there," he said, insisting, a little. He had clear memories of working there. "You.." Now he was starting to panic in full, realizing that it wasn't just that he was here.. He took a few more deep breaths, and looked away, trying to stay calm, and not freak out.

"Their government passed a registration act," he said. "We talked about this at length," he added, frowning. Why did David not remember? And why were they in Ireland? Why, why, why, why?

"Rauri?" he asked, baffled. Who was that? A child? Oh.. Oh.

"No--I don't need a hospital," he said after a moment. He didn't know what he needed, but this was no time to go to the hospital--he knew he was right, that his memories were real, and that they were somehow at odds with what was currently happening.

"I'm perfectly healthy, Davey, I just.. just need to sort things out."

David had no idea what a registration act was. He figured it was about American politics that he didn't know, but when Séarlas said they'd talked about it at length he blinked. They...hadn't. He had no idea what he was talking about. The thing that frightened him the most though was his confusion at the name Rauri. At first, David thought he must have forgotten he was babysitting which was strange enough, but then he realized that David just had no idea who she was.

"Yes!" he said, exasperated. "Rauri! Your goddaughter?" Séarlas loved that little girl, there was no possible way he would forget her unless there was something seriously wrong. It was then that David found himself pushed into being a bit stricter.

"Séarlas. You are not alright. You don't even remember Rauri, there's-- this is not normal at all. You are ill or you've been brainwashed or something. Something." Just then, his phone rang. He growled and pulled his mobile out of his pocket. It was Marie. "Hang on a mo," he said shortly.

His conversation was short. The baby was crying and Marie couldn't get her to stop and didn't know what to do. David took a deep breath and tried not to be annoyed. She didn't care much about their daughter though. "Séarlas....I have to go get Rauri. Maybe if you see her you'll....I dunno, remember stuff? Or....something...I don't know." He'd seen it in movies, a dad sees his baby and...well Séarlas wasn't her father. Unfortunately, a tiny voice in the back of his mind poked. He shoved it away. "Look, you need to do something. Lie down or....or go to the doctor or...or something."

Séarlas blanched. Goddaughter? He almost felt betrayed, and jealous, and intrigued, all at once. David had a child? ...With Marie? He wanted to be able to say he knew what David was talking about, but his eyes showed no recognition at all, and he just sighed again, dropping his head into his hands.

"I'm not brainwashed," he said, unable to do much other than to be contrary. He knew what he remembered was right. That everything else was wrong. "And I'm not ill--David, please, it sounds crazy, but I know--" And David's phone rang.

Séarlas quieted, and made a vague gesture for David to answer the call. He stood up in the meantime, and started pacing, trying to recall what had happened, why everything was so wrong.

"Rauri," he said again, quietly. He hadn't even known David wanted a child. Or maybe he didn't.. "I'd like to m.. see her," he said. He'd almost said meet. Because that would go over well. He swallowed. "I'll go ta the doctor, okay?" he said. "You go get Rauri, I'll pop off to the doctor. When I get back I'll stop by your place."

He was lying, actually. He wasn't about to go to the doctor, but he needed some time to figure things out, and that meant without David there. He also needed some time to compose himself, because the idea that he'd somehow just lost David, completely, absolutely, overnight.. It was shattering news. He was hoping he'd wake up from this nightmare, soon.
