TITLE AND DESCRIPTION

Please enter as follows:

First Name Last Name
grade level/faculty/townie - play by first and last

Such as:

Title = John Smith
Description = faculty - brad pitt

Please try to use creativity and avoid using first names that are already in play if possible.

CURRENT BANS

Wildling characters (human beings born with magical abilities) are very rare. While we are not banning them completely, they are difficult to get approved. We'd prefer you apply for creatures or mages or humans who become Anna Boys.

All faculty members must be over thirty years old and be conservative in appearance. More importantly, the face claim should appear to be of an appropriate age - rock stars don't make good teachers. The youthful canon instructors are the exceptions, not the rule. Professors must have PHDs and have been teaching for a number of years. Teachers should have Masters degrees and some experience. Recent graduates with Bachelor degrees qualify as instructors only and more often than not would not be hired full time for employment at Saint Valentines School due to their lack of experience. Please remember, these faculty members are teaching the future students of Oxford, Yale and so on.

We strongly recommend that you avoid the following conceits in your applications:

  • Shy, abused and bitchy characters who still manage to be positively magnetic, charming and/or alluring.
  • Anyone irresistible, invulnerable (unless it's their specific power) or with skills or knowledge beyond their years.
  • Anyone who has a dead parent, killed someone by accident, was raped or kidnapped or has experienced some horrific tragedy.
  • Characters who "always" or "never" do anything, or who with each sentence of the bio seem to contradict previous traits or experience.

Those seeking to apply for Cabal related characters or canons will need prior approval from the Headmaster. No original characters may be related to canon characters or the Cabal at this time.

APPLICATION CONTENT

Important !

We urge you all to read everything in the office and FAQ forums. Failure to make sure you understand what we are looking for in terms of setting and content or expect in our bios could result in frustrations for you. We want you to succeed, to join our forum and to have fun. Nothing pleases us more than to read a bio where it is obvious that the player 'gets it.'

Please, don't post an application here if you aren't of age and prepared to proof read your writing for simple spelling or grammar mistakes or meet the minimum paragraph or word count requested.

first impression
is that the name you're meant to have

first middle last name

hometown city, state or country
age in numbers  |  job/grade level
height in feet inches  |  hair color  |  eye color

Give us a quick overview of the character please. Focus on things that other characters might know about your character without actually knowing them, provide the visual clues we take for granted if you can. Include things that might affect their reputation or popularity if still in school or as faculty. For some, this could be where you indicate an arrest record or perhaps detail the time they nearly burnt down the gardener's shed sneaking a smoke sophomore year. Future goals if concise may also be included here if you like. Try to keep it to one or two paragraphs.

personality
that's the name we've long held back

Tell us who they are and what makes them tick. You can include any quirks, hopes, fears or dreams they might have if you get stuck. You can format this by trait if you like, just shorten the description for each please to the essential. Two paragraphs minimum, four maximum, please. Use the "br" or "p" tags in "<" ">" brackets between them please.

abilities
i am turning in revolution

skills & such

This is not just about magic! Tell us about what they can do, languages they speak, if they will be speaking them in game as a first language, etc. Tell us about what they can without magic, in other words, if they play sports or can't. Tell us what they are not so good at too, just to keep it real.

magic & superhuman powers

Spend a paragraph or two letting us see what their powers or skill set magically is currently. Please keep in mind that not all characters can be world class wizards or invulnerable. Try to keep this realistic and in keeping with the character's personality, age and experience level. If they are human or a virgin, you may delete this sub-category and post an addendum to the bio once/if they do become magical.

artifacts, weapons & spells

We do not need a complete list of spells, just present an over view or what they can and can't do please. Give us insight in how the character likes to use their arsenal/magic. If they rely on any artifacts or typically carry any weapons please detail those here as well.

v card status

When and where did the character lose their virginity? Short answer here, primarily for those seeking Anna Boy powers. Virgin, Non-Virgin, you get the idea. We don't need all of the details, thanks. If they come from one of the other character types, please indicate that here instead, such as Mage, Human, Wildling(when available), Creature, Mythical Being and so forth.

history
This is the fate you've carved on me

Type up your character's history so we can get a feel for their background. Ya' know, the big stuff like where they were born, upbringing and financial situation, how or why they grew up in Hart or came to town or to Saint Valentines, why they decided to or learned to be who they are. How they got their fears or began to aspire to their goals. Also be sure to add the little stuff too like a nickname their siblings use to call them or their first kiss, for example. Everyone is a product of their upbringing and by all accounts, please avoid unnecessary drama for drama sake. Three paragraph minimum but no more than five, please.

Use "< p >" codes to delineate paragraphs please.

sample roleplay
our stories of the gentle fall

All you need to put here is a sample of your role-playing style. It's suggested that you use the character you're making at the moment so you can get some experience writing for the them. However, if you're feeling lazy or already have another character then you can use a sample from them; just copy & paste. Consider our word count, please. With that in mind, we aren't looking for your best or for a novel or short story here. Honestly, this is just to show us that you can write in third person and that you have a solid grasp of character and grammar. Beyond that, most of the people you write with will never read this (Honesty ftw!). Our suggestion, 500 words makes a solid first impression. And yes, this - like all of the other fields - is a required section.

player information
don't you believe them

play by  |  membergroup  |  alias
experience writing in days, months or years  |  and anything else you'd like to note

beginners welcome as long as you meet our standards
