WELCOME
to the Bourbon Eulogy

In January, 1919, the US Government set Prohibition into action.
Banning the sale, creation and use of alcohol was meant to put a dent in the crime rates. Instead it gave rise to the golden age of mafia.

'Bourbon Eulogy' is an AU RPG drawing heavily from the Roaring Twenties. In fact, you will find most everything will appear straight from the era.
Yet there are a few things lurking here that are far from the norm...

In this city, two Dons are warring over the rights to rule. The Russo and Mortetti families. Feared and despised, they control the mafia like puppets. Both want the city for their own reasons, but who will win the final battle? And what of The Others? Are they, like the rumors say, the real heads of the families?

One may destroy this city; the other will rule it with an iron fist.
Chose the lesser of two evils; put your best suite on.

Head to the front lines.

The Ebony Sparrow was Tawney's favorite place in the world to spend time. When he wasn't playing music, the next best thing to do was to listen to it. Although, lately listening was becoming more appealing. He wasn't too sure why. The only thing Tawney could credit it with was that he'd been working more. It had been great earning money by doing what he loved at first, but now Tawney seemed to be doing it so often that he didn't want to play during his free time. It was kind of depressing.

Tawney was enjoying his night out, though, and made himself stop thinking about work for now. Work always seemed to be an unpleasant topic, no matter what your job was. Right now, Tawney just decided to sit back in his seat, close his eyes, and listen to the music. He hadn't even ordered any food. Just a drink that he would sip occasionally. Tawney sat like for a while, until the sound of foot steps made him sit up and open his eyes.

He sauntered around like he owned the place. Probably because he does. He blew a kiss at a woman passing by, watching her blush with a smirk. As she stepped away a few feet he whistled at her, and she rushed off in a fit of giggles. Pleased with himself, Amorticus turned the corner and looked over at the nearest booth and table to see a young man sitting there. Amorticus was huge, and he was pretty sure it was intimidating at times, so he relaxed his posture as he waved. "Hey, I see you around all the time~" He said cheerfully, going and sitting down in a chair near the man but not directly next to him. "What'cha like? I'll order a drink for my favorite customer." He winked at the man, leaning back in his seat a bit.

The jazz music was loud, and oddly enlightening. Amorticus always loved running the club. It was getting lost in the music, watching people enjoy it and dance to it. He could think of no more rewarding job. Someone laughed loudly and whooped as another song started up. Amorticus couldn't help but smile at the music. "I love this place. Oh, by the way. I'm the owner of the Ebony Sparrow, Amorticus De Luca. You can call me Amor though, if you wish." He said, crossing one leg over his other knee in a relaxed pose. "And who is the lovely gentleman that I'm sharing company with?" Amorticus asked, giving the man a once over. Nice... very nice.

((OOC: First attempt at tagging from phone! Beware typos that make no sense. Autocorrect is stupid.))

It didn't surprise Tawney that he was a familiar face around the club. He was there a lot, and a lot of the staff seemed to recognize him already. It did surprise him that he was apparently this guy's favorite customer. While he had seen the other man around before, they hadn't really interacted as far as Tawney could remember. Maybe he was just being friendly, Tawney decided. Very friendly from the look of that wink. After giving an awkward cough, Tawny smiled and said, "Thanks, I've got a drink now, actually," he raised his glass as he spoke, "But I will take you up on that offer in a few minutes"

His smile grew as Tawney looked around the place. "Yeah, it's great here," he agreed, looking back at his new companion. He had to say, he certainly didn't mind the company. When he found out he was talking to the owner of the club, Tawney sat up a little more and reached over to shake hands. "Well, it's an honor to meet you then. You run a great place." He looked around one more time and sighed a little. "I am Tawney, and I am jealous of you, Amor." It wouldn't be a big change in career, but he loved this club and it was the perfect place for someone who loved playing music.

He chuckled a bit. He was a bit open on who he was and who he liked, it was just who he was. Women, men, didn't matter. And this kid was cute, of course he was interested. "Well let me know when then, cari." Cari was the Italian word for 'dear' or 'sweetheart'. Since he was Italian, it's fair to give his companion a foreign endearment, right? He chuckled, looking up as a lady holding a drink tray passed and smiled at him. He gave her a wave, looking back at his companion. The man's cough made him smirk, just the tiniest bit. Oh so he was a shy one? Amorticus was almost convinced he'd picked up on a little bit of interest in him from the other man... or maybe he was just full of himself. Either way, it wouldn't deter Amorticus from flirting at least. "One of the employees always talks about you. Says you're cute and all that." He tilted his head to the side, boldly looking the other man over before he smiled. "She's won my approval on that." He looked forward at a loud blast of saxophone, giving a content 'hm' noise.

At the handshake he laughed. "Ha, I knew explaining who I was would clear up some confusion. It's my pleasure, and I'm pleased to meet you." Oh yeah, he was pleased all right. "Thank you, I love running it. The people who play here are fantastic, and the music just... there's nothing like jazz music." He said it in a way that it was like his pride and joy, which was absolutely true. He'd worked hard to create it, and he was happy that others were enjoying it. Especially when they're handsome 'others'. "Tawney. Handsome name for a handsome man. Fitting." He inclined his head at the compliment. Too much too soon? He'd find out. "Jealous? Hm, and why is that?" He asked, turning his head to meet his friend's eyes. He tilted his head, "What is it that you do?" He gave a charming little smile, one knee propped against the table and the other knee comfortably lounging at an angle. Which clearly was an improper sitting position, but he doubted his new friend cared all that much.

[[I didn't see any typos or anything ;D You're good!]]

Tawney smiled as he took another drink from his glass. Taking a look at how much he had left, he decided it wouldn't be too long before he would be accepting the offer for a free drink. "Very soon," he assured, Amorticus. When he heard the name, he paused for a second before asking, "Cari? What is that? I'm afraid I don't know any other languages." It felt a bit embarrassing to admit that since he was talking to someone who obviously did. And he was a little more embarrassed at the cute comment. Tawney wasn't really sure how to respond to that, especially since it was coming from another guy. There was nothing wrong with that, and Tawney had found himself thinking of other guys at times. He hadn't done anything with those thoughts, though. This was a new experience for him. "Well, thank you," was all he could think to say. And he was pretty sure his face was red.

He smiled when his companion made that contented little noise as they listened to the music. It was good to see the owner really seemed to enjoy the place and care about it. "I know. There's nothing like Jazz music, right?" he said, the smile on his face getting a little bigger as he said it. It was the best in his opinion. "Thanks again," Tawney said to the compliment about his nane, and he could feel his face getting hotter. Not that he wasn't enjoying this attention he seemed to be getting.

His eyes drifted down as Tawney noticed how Amorticus was sitting. It made him a little awkward, but Tawney didn't say anything. He just shifted a bit in his seat and said, "I'm the piano player at the Lirston. I'd rather play here, though."

He wondered if he could get away with saying something really dirty in Italian then...

"Cari is an Italian endearment meaning 'dear' or 'sweetheart'. My whole family is Italian... sometimes it slips." He said it innocently, but the wink he gave after he said it assured the other man he did it on purpose. At Tawney's blush, Amorticus chuckled a bit. His companion had obviously never really been hit on by another man... Amorticus could teach him a few things...

"You're exactly right, there's nothing like jazz music." Amorticus agreed, closing his eyes. He let the music wash over him for a moment. Everything about this place, he loved. The people, the atmosphere, the music itself... he couldn't possibly have had a more pleasurable job. At Tawney's second thank you, Amorticus turned giving his all too infamous crooked smile that he normally used when he was trying to be particularly seductive. "Any time." He said, laughing a bit.

At that he sat up a bit, more than a little pleased. "Yeah? I'd love to hear you perform. And I'd be more than willing to open up a space here for you if you wanted to play. But of course, I'd have to hear you first." There was definitely a wicked underlying 'I'd love to spend some alone time with you' tone to it, but he was actually genuinely curious other than that. It was really a win-win situation. "Everyone loves a man who can play a piano. Good with his fingers and all that." The absolutely vulgar joke made Amorticus smirk. Score. "I always wanted to learn, but my parents were huge education people. They didn't think I could run a club based on music." He gestured about, "I proved them wrong. I'm pretty much good at reading and walking around my apartment naked. And running a club. That's about as far as my talents go. ...Well, if we're appropriate." He was really on a roll tonight. "You play anything other than piano?" He asked pleasantly.

"I don't mind if it does," Tawney assured him, "It's a beautiful language. You'll just have to explain what you're saying." He chuckled as he said it. It seemed like a very affectionate term to give him. "You're...you're really friendly, aren't you?" he asked, giving Amorticus a smile. Not that he was complaining. It was kind of nice, really.

Had he heard right? Amorticus wanted to hear him play? "No problem," Tawney told him, "I'd love to play for you. Drop by the Lirston any time, and you can usually find me there. I wish I could say I had my own piano, but not yet." As soon as he could, though, Tawney planned on buying one. That was a long way off, unfortunately. Until then, his boss at the cafe didn't mind him dropping in to play during his free time. The customers liked it, and they didn't have to pay Tawney to do it. He laughed at Amorticus's little joke, blushing again. "Yeah, I suppose we are," he said, taking a drink to keep from being expected to say more. He was tongue tied, he guessed, in response to the little comments Amorticus kept making.

He choked on his drink a little when Amorticus mentioned walking around his apartment naked. Tawney had not been expecting that. "I can play a few others, but the piano is my favorite," he said, deciding to ignore the naked comment for now. "My parents..." he wasn't really sure what he could say without making them seem like assholes, "They...didn't really seem to care either way. So I just kinda did my own thing..." He finished his drink after that, and held up the glass to Amorticus. "Offer still stands, right?"

He chuckled. "Oh? You don't mind?" Oh he'd translate for him alright. "Beautiful." He repeated, his eyes having that devious glint. "I'll translate, don't worry." He said with a wink. "Very friendly indeed. Especially with handsome shy men such as yourself." Besides it didn't sound like Tawney thought it was a bad thing by the way he said it. The lady from earlier walked past, giving him what he assumed she thought was a seductive glance. He chuckled, looking at Tawney. "The women around here. So flirtatious!" He said it specifically to be a hypocrite actually since he was such a flirt himself... But he was flirting with Tawney because he was actually interested.

"Mm, it's a date." He teased Tawney, then laughed. "But yeah, I'd love to hear you play. I'll probably come around some time this week when I get some time to myself." He smiled. "We have an old piano here in the back actually... no one ever uses it. I think it's broken. But you know, if you ever find a need for it and want to fix it then it's yours. No one else I know plays piano." He ran a hand through the back of his hair. At that he looked over at Tawney in surprise. "Oho! You are?" He smirked a bit at the implication. Now that he'd love to see... his mind wandered for a moment before he forcefully pushed the thought out of his mind. This was so not the place...

He frowned a bit at Tawney's expression when he mentioned his parents. He smirked, "Of course." He said before he waved down one of his waitresses and ordered more drinks for them before he turned back to Tawney. "Mm... Well parents can be like that." He rolled his eyes, thinking of his own parents. "But hell, if you have talent then you do what you love right? That's living life to it's fullest." He sounded proud when he said it. Defying his parents and proving them wrong in the process was-- in his mind-- his greatest achievement beside the Ebony Sparrow itself. "Yeah, with your talents I'd like to hear it sometime. You can play here and I'll brag to everyone that you're my favorite. Make the others jealous." He lifted a glass to Tawney before he took a long drink, the liquor burning his throat in all the right ways. "I have something you might like." He said with a chuckle, undoing the buttons to his shirt before he turned to show his right arm. He had a single line of sheet music on his arm. It was an 1870s song, and a morbid one at that. "This line is the line of 'Oh father, come and sit by me and let me take your hand in mine'." He said with a crooked smile. "I thought I was so clever when I got it done. He was so mad at me cause the last line of that song is 'for I shall go where mother dwells, So kiss me and I'll go to sleep', implying that my mother was dead and I was dying. He never appreciated my flair for the dramatic." Amorticus laughed, taking another drink from his glass.

He chuckled a bit at the flirtatious comment as he watched the woman go by. "Yeah, they are," he said, "They aren't the only ones, I think." He smiled over at Amorticus as he said it, not really sure that it was quite as nice as the one the woman had just given him. Tawney wasn't really trying for that, though. At least, he thought he wasn't.

At the mention of a date, Tawney was blushing again. He tried to tell himself it was just a figure of speech. A part of him questioned if that was really what Amorticus meant by it, though. "Well, I'll be looking forward to seeing you there," he said. At the mention of the piano, Tawney really looked interested. It was a very tempting offer. "Would you mind if we went back and had a look at it now?" With another laugh, Tawney told him, "Well, I don't know for sure. You aren't the first one to mention that, though."

"You're right," Tawney said, raising his own glass to Amorticus before he took a drink. "And I've been pretty happy with my life so far." He wasn't exactly the most successful person in the world, Tawney would admit that. The important thing was that he was happy with what he was doing with life. Tawney didn't want to be one of those people who would still be trying to figure out what they wanted to do with life some 50 years from now.

When Amorticus first started messing with this shirt, Tawney raised his eyebrows. He wondered what exactly Amorticus was going to show him, and leaned in when the tattoo was revealed. He was right. Tawney did like it. "Nice," he said, with genuine appreciation for the tattoo. Tawney took a minute to read the line of music as Amorticus explained it. With a little laugh he asked, "A little act of rebellion then?"

Amorticus smiled back at him. "Mm, are you implying I'm a flirt? Good, cause I am. But only to the cute ones." He laughed. The woman was far out of his mind by this point, his mind instead occupied with thoughts of the man sitting next to him. He was a cute kid, Amorticus couldn't deny.

He smirked. So, Tawney hadn't denied the date comment. Score! "I look forward to going." He said, nodding. He had to admit, taking Tawney into the back room was tempting to show him more than just the piano. He'd behave himself though. "Sure thing, it's in the back." He downed the rest of his drink and shifted his leg off the table, getting to his feet. "I'm not? Who stole my joke? That's so disappointing." He looked over at Tawney, eyeing him. "I'll just... have to come up with something better." He smiled.

He was glad to hear that. "That's good. There is no sense in regret. Plus I'm sure you're amazing at what you do, so why be unhappy?" He raised his eyebrows before he waggled them in a perverted type of way that he tried to make cute at the same time. He was pleased Tawney liked his tattoo. "Oh yeah. My family was all about education. Wanted me to be sensible and be a schoolteacher, but music was always the thing I loved most. I persued it, and shoved it in their face as often as they shoved books in mine. Don't get me wrong, I love literature, but jazz is my soul." He laughed. "Haven't you ever rebelled with your parents?" He left his shirt unbuttoned as he motioned Tawney to follow him. "Come on, I'll show you the piano." It was probably a baby grand piano... he didn't know much about them. But even he knew it was nice, and when it was repaired it would be beautiful in the hands of a person that knew how to play it...

At first, Tawney thought he might have crossed some sort of line. It would have been weird if he had, comparing what he had said to how Amorticus had been acting. He laughed a bit in relief and embarrassment when it looked like everything was alright. "Well, I feel honored to be one of those cute ones then," he said.

Tawney readily stood up when Amorticus did, excited to see this piano. Yes, he was actually excited to see a musical instrument. It was a sign of how much Tawney loved music. He laughed and said, "Hey, maybe you stole someone else's joke, hm?" and then added, "But really, more people seem to be able to think of that one than you might expect." A little curious, he asked, "Something better? Like what?"

He felt more than a little pride as Tawney said, "I am amazing." And the look on his face clearly showed that he was happy with what he was doing. He thought about his childhood before saying, "Yeah, I guess I did." His parents didn't seem to notice that much, though. When they did notice, they didn't seem to care enough to really do anything about it. Tawney had just figured out that raising himself was a better idea than his parents raising him and his sister. The piano was a much better topic to get back to. "Lead the way," he told Amorticus when he mentioned it again.

He smirked a bit. "Thank your momma, pretty boy. She's the one who made you." He touched Tawney's cheek, letting his fingertips trail down to Tawney's lips. With a bit of a laugh Amorticus kissed his index and middle fingertips and pressed them to Tawney's lips. "Glad you feel honored." He winked at the blonde, putting his hands in his jacket pockets for a moment.

"What? Me steal someone elses' joke? Bah, they make cute jokes for people like me." He said confidently, smiling a bit to show he was only teasing. "Better like... 'rather than just telling me you're good with your hands, you could show me.' The direct approach is far less confusing." He gave a charming little smile. "I agree though, the original flirty jokes are far too overused nowadays. I should have assumed someone already used that one on you." He gave an eye-roll with an exaggerated sigh. "Ah well, I'll have time to try plenty more on you." He laughed.

At the other man's confidence he smirked again. That was adorable. "Mm, well now I'll have to see on that little date then huh?" He referred to it again that way, but left room for the man to correct him if he wanted. He wouldn't push too far yet... He gave a nod, pleased that the topic of childhoods had ended. He hated talking of his parents. In his mind, his parents committed the ultimate betrayal. They didn't have faith in him, and they hadn't been there for him when he had needed their support. He'd raised himself, and he'd done what he wanted when he wanted. Thinking of them put him on edge, and that wasn't the mood he wanted to be in. He flashed Tawney a smile, leading the way into the back where the broken baby grand piano sat. "The strings on the inside of the piano are the only things broken. With those fixed it should work just fine." He said pleasantly to the blonde, taking a moment to look the other man over. Handsome... He cleared his throat, looking away to the piano again.
