Physical Description: Clarence is anything but masculine [yet there are traces of muscle], semi awkwardly lanky, delightfully angular, and a just a bit beautiful. Yes, there is a more feminine vibe to him, but he certainly does not indulge in this or flaunt it. Instead, he does whatever feels natural, and what’s natural never fails to look alluring when Clarence is concerned. His walk is more like long elegant strides, light footsteps yet the soles of his shoes strike the pavement with confidence. The way he stands around or lounges on his couch may as well be poses for a photo shoot. Even the little habits of biting his lip, tapping his fingers and swiping his long bangs from his eyes appear attractive.
As for Lance’s dress style, it’s a bit hard to place; he likes to play around and mix it up which isn’t hard to do since he has a very wide collection of clothing. Generally at work he dresses comfortably in classy white shirts and slacks, always freshly pressed from the day before. With friends or out for a bit of fun he tends to wear more unusual attire with a muggle flair. After all, he loves to accumulate interesting shirts, jackets and scarves from nearly anywhere. Patterns are a big thing for him, most of all horizontal stripes, which he can pull off due to his figure. Overall, his style definitely calls for attention, and is bound to catch someone’s eye.
History:Liam and Jane did not meet in school, nor did they meet right after Hogwarts. In fact, the pair did not even know the other existed until one was 25 and the other was 30. Five years was a huge difference in school, but not so much out of it. Liam was a self-assured Slytherin, more than a little ambitious, didn’t care for Voldemort and his little gang. Jane was a poetic Ravenclaw, wonderfully creative and witty, didn’t care for Slytherins or any other house aside from her own. Liam became a prominent business man in the broomsticks industry, not to mention a very eligible bachelor. Jane worked as a reporter for the Daily Prophet just to put money in her pockets. Their meeting was like a dream to Jane, unbelievable; Liam charmed her into oblivion. In a year or so she was married to him then pregnant, and she quit her job. Three year has gone by. Jane bought a decent sized space for her florist shop with the help of her husband, her beloved husband. Her reasoning for the shop was that she refused to be labeled a housewife. Everything was going splendidly; Jane was still considered young and she was still in love with her hardworking Liam. However, as the years passed away, the heart changed.
Clarence grew up in his mother’s shop along side with his younger sister Clementine. Although small, he was quite taken with the delicate beauties and he always insisted on helping out with something, anything. Usually he would be content just changing the water in the flower vases. Other times he would sit in the back making daisy crowns for his sister, who would never fail to make him smile by squealing with delight. This was how his early years where lived, but it wasn’t always fun and games. From the age of five Jane made it a point to home school Clarence. By the age of seven he could already read a simple chapter book. Jane was thrilled to discover how fast her son learned things and how much he actually enjoyed learning. Yes, sometimes his curiosity could get him in trouble, but Jane was always secretly amused. The effect Clarence had on Clementine was also gratifying.
What wasn’t so wonderful was Liam’s behavior as of late. Slowly, to Jane’s horror, she saw her husband slip away. He never did anything to physically hurt her or the children, but as years flew by he seemed to disappear. It broke Jane’s heart when he missed his son’s birthday for the first time. It pained her even more when her children asked where ‘daddy’ had gone or why he wasn’t there. And it seemed that every time he came home he would give another excuse and every time his children would buy it.
Clarence stopped buying it when he graduated from Hogwarts. As expected he was sorted into Ravenclaw on that first day of his first year in the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry. Through the years he had done an exceptional job keeping up the image that came with being an eagle. He was intelligent, wise beyond belief, diligent when it came to his studies, yet strangely likeable and even popular with the ladies. The only two ladies he cared the most about, however, were his mother and sister. The former worried him sometimes. This was how he grew to hate his father. Although becoming a medi-wizard did cross his mind at one point in his years at Hogwarts since he was always one of the top students in potions and herbology, he ultimately decided against it. He wanted to help his mother instead.
Jane saw less and less of Liam when both Clarence and Clementine were finally went off to Hogwarts and Ravenclaw, her heart skipped a beat whenever she heard the door creek. Eventually though, she became tired of feeling lonely and let that die. She turned to her shop, her flowers and her customers for daily comfort. It seemed strangers always had something nice to say. In her spare time she would write poetry or play the piano as she had done so many times before. When Clarence informed her that he wanted nothing more than to help manage the store, light lifted her spirit once more. At the age of forty-five, she was still beautiful.
Clarence now owned the flower shop at the age of twenty-three. Jane had given it to him three years back, but she still drops by every Friday. Clarence also changed his last name to his mother’s maiden name when he was twenty years old. Business has been holding up just fine since his designer floral arranging skills caught the attention of many in the wizarding world – his art work brightening the lives of many in the dreary reality of life.
Personality:Like the way he dresses, Clarence isn’t the kind of individual you can simply sum up in a paragraph, but it’s worth a shot anyway. He is without a doubt an odd one; however, people seem to like him anyway. At first glance he looks to be the shy and quiet type of guy, the kind who prefers to read alone by the fireplace, and though his soft-spoken demeanor gives this impression, it is far from the complete picture. Soft-spoken and genteel he may be upon first impression, around his close friends Lance can transform into the silliest goof-ball, or a sharp-tongued bastard to an enemy, or the most charming gentleman to those who attract him. He is dreadfully in tune with his emotions, understands them entirely, but he has a difficult time controlling them. This makes him just a little temperamental, though he hates it beyond belief and does his best to bottle it up and scream when no one is around. Crying comes fairly easy for him – he has no trouble breaking down in front of people because a few of his tears won’t hurt them. But laughing is by far what he lives for; it’s a drug, a painkiller.
As relationships go, Clarence has the ability to befriend almost anyone left and right. He is pleasant around strangers and knows how to treat someone to make their friendship last. In childhood and his student years, he interacted with females the most so he is compassionate enough and no where near demanding. [However, on rare occasions, a bit of his secret dark streak pops up.] And although he truly values companionship, he also greatly appreciates down time. The few moments of solitude he receives is precious.
[Just as a little side note and for clarification purposes, Lance is honestly not fully gay. He might be bisexual, but even then the day he admits it will be the day Harry Potter runs around in a pink tutu out of sear wanting to do so. ^^ Seriously.]Hates: Narrow-mindedness, anything bland, small spaces, tight restrictions, sometimes authority, his own inner weakness.
loves: Culture, learning new things or trying something different, flowers, storms, open-mindedness [of course], art and the list can go on.
Erised: To know what he’d see in it. Clarence is not quite sure what he truly desires in life.
Wishes: To live life the best he can, make memories, be fondly remembered…
Hopes: To one day see the world and understand it a little better.
Boggart: Fear is what he fears most – topped with fear of being utterly alone.
Patronus: a frog… of the poisonous variety…
Special Talents, if any: Exceedingly brilliant in the potions field, an exceptional artist/musician and masterful… florist…
Special Possessions, if any: All of his possessions are special, even the random photographs currently blanketing his coffee table.
(Optional):
Favourite Color: He’s rather fond of colours actually, so this is a tough call…, but perhaps teal or sea green.
Least Favourite Color: Due to the fact that he pretty much adores the color spectrum, this is also a difficult question.
Favourite Past School Subject: Herbology and potions
Least Favourite Past School Subject: Arithmacy
Favourite Food: Italian and Japanese
Favourite Drink: Iced tea or the butterbeer from Three Broomsticks.
Least Favourite Food: …Liver?
Favourite Animal: All marine life, ultimately. He finds them fascinating.
Least Favourite Animal: insects?
Required Sample Post: [Is it okay if I use a post I wrote for another character? I’m a little burnt out right now. If not, I’ll just write one up later.]Like a puppy chasing its tail, Josh had turned around in circles at least three times since he found himself in a completely new section of the library. He looked like a caricature out of a Saturday morning cartoon with his theatrical gestures and comical expressions. The sincerity of his bewilderment was probably what made the situation even more humorous. But the melodious quality of the girl’s voice stopped him abruptly. The Diamond stood stalk still with his book threatening to slip from his calloused fingers and wide eyes blinking as if trying to break free from a daze.
“Take a seat. I bet it’ll be easier to read that way, too.”It wasn’t until then Josh was freed from the stunned look; his entire appearance seemed to relax instantly. “Thank you. I think I will.” The silly grin was back on his face and his body language was screaming ‘I’d love to get to know you’: what with his chin propped on his hand and upper body leaning towards her. He had always been better at and more comfortable with talking to girls anyway. Taking the brief moment of silence to his full advantage, Josh stealthily scanned the girl in a non-perverted way, only out of curiosity and the need to find out what kind of a person she is. Yes, it was supposedly bad to judge a book by its cover, but he couldn’t help it.
She was strikingly appealing to look at in her own way. It took Josh a whole minute to notice that she was in a wheelchair, but even then he didn’t think of it for more than a second. What made his grin grow even wider was the fact that she was wearing no shoes. Suddenly a nagging yearning to stay and chat took over him. “I think I’m done reading for now, otherwise I’ll get myself in real trouble. Now if you’re sure I didn’t harm you in any way, I hope you don’t mind if I sit and talk to you for a bit.” So it sounded slightly random… He had a feeling she wouldn’t object. However, he did spot the pen and parchment paper sitting not to far away. “Unless, of course, you’re busy…”
