Welcome to the lands of the Northern Wind. This is a feral horse roleplay site that caters to all levels of roleplayers willing to learn and up their skills. There is a bit of magic involved, but if you're tired of the same old Light versus Dark plot, this is the place for you. There are also a few moderator positions open, and one co-admin. January 1st, 2009 - Welcome to Northern Wind! Today is the first day we're open and accepting members! I'm so excited! Make your characters and claim land while it's still available! Let's get this place busy! By the way, if you're interested in a moderator or co-admin position, PM me! We're also especially looking for a graphics person. -- soleil.
January 11, 2009 - Yay, we're almost to 20 members! Canons are still open, so go try out if you want to be a god. Also, go add what songs you want to the music player in the Anything Goes board. -- soleil.
January 29, 2009 - I've gone through and aged all the horses that were accepted before January 28th one year. January 28th was the close of our first game year. Make sure you tell everyone you know about us so we can have lots of new members by next year. The next aging will be on February 26th. Canon positions are still open. Peace and love. -- soleil

CHARACTER ADOPTION AGENCY
This is where you can post characters you don't want to play anymore so that other members can take them off your hands. Please check here before creating a new character; there might be one you want to take on. This is not the place for foal auditions, there is a seperate board for that. However, if you play someone's foal and don't want to anymore, post an ad in here and not the foal auditions board.

CANON AUDITIONS
Come here to audition to be one of the canon horses. The canon horses are horses that have important roles in the threadwork of our site, so it's important the roles get filled fast. Read the Canon section in the rules to learn more about playing them, and if you want to play one, make a thread in here telling which one you are auditioning for and post a 400 minimum word post in character to try out.

After you breed, come here to post the mother and father's stats so that the baby can be created by a staff member. The foal's stats will be posted in the Statistics Archive and in a new Biography page for the foal.

THE STRAIT OF ALQUILO
The water in this thin sliver of sea is crystal clear, and is said to have mystical properties. This is only a legend, however, and the only magical part of this area is the warm sand, clear water, and meeting of lovers. This is, ritually, where lone mares come to be claimed by stallions. Watch out, though, because some stallions don't take no for an answer.

THE GARDEN OF ARITHMATIS
Here, new life blossoms in every direction. This valley is safe from the snows of winter and the bitter winds of autumn. It is sheltered from the blazing heat of summer and the spring storms. Flowers bloom year round in colorful clusters, and the grass grows waist high. This is the place where lovers come to create new life of their own.

WINDING IVY CLIFF
This is a safe cove just below a small set of cliffs. A wide, sturdy trail leads down a gentle slope; the water of this small bay is clear and only puddle deep, wonderful for little colts and fillies to take their first swimming lessons. Ivy winds up the sides of the elegant cliffs, and there is plentiful grass on an uprise just up the shore. Mares come here to give birth; stallions are allowed only with their mares to aid them.

HEVANDRA'S HAVEN FOR WANDERING SOULS
This is a small wood south of the strait; it's grasses are lush and dewey, and the sweet smell of pine surrounds you as you enter a small clearing. Nettles and twigs crunch satisfyingly beneath your hooves, and you can hear the small nickers of foals as they frolic through the trees under the watchful eye of Hevandra. She is the care-taker of the abandoned foals; will you take one into your care?

THE ASPEN HOLLOW
The ground underfoot is hard and packed down; the smell of earth is strong, rooted deep in the air. Many have fallen and trodden over the hollow, surrounded by trees that stand tall, their branches bare and their trunks bending with the strife of old age. THE HEALING SPRINGS OF ASTRAEUS
This is a secluded spot near the rocky foothills of the northern mountains where warm springs bubble up through the cracks and gaps in the granite. The waters are dark and murky, almost foreboding, but the mare who watches over the springs and the wounded horses who come for help is the opposite. With a coat of gleaming ivory she invites you in, mixes a few herbs, and his you feeling better in no time at all.

THE CAVES OF ADVENTURERS
This is a system of caves toward the peak of the northern mountains that overlooks the strait. Within its walls dwells the keeper of quests himself, Apollo. He is a quiet, brooding stallion; some say he is over a century old. One thing everyone agrees on, though, is his judge of character; go with your head held high and respect in your eyes, tell him what you wish to receive, and if he believes in the purity of your character, he will give you a task to complete in exchange.

THE MEADOW OF THIEVES
This wide open plain is full of golden grasses that sway under a light breeze. The sun shimmers on your back, the sky open and cloud free, clear as a cryystal. Here, stallions and mares alike come to steal things away from others using a riddle. Though stealing may not be regarded very highly among horses, it is recognized among the gods, and is just as noble as fighting. Stealth is just as impressive as overt strength.

THE REFUGE OF THEZRA
This valley is guarded by tightly knit trees. Horses of all races know of its power, but within its walls, peace reigns. The opening will only reveal itself to those in need. Often, herds take shelter here when a disaster has struck in their homeland. The gods watch over this place carefully; be careful you don't make them cross with you.

SHORE GLASS CREEK
This creek cuts jaggedly through a small grassland sheltered ina ll directions by rolling hills. It is often hot, and there is a lack of shade, but most bachelors newly kicked out of their herd find shelter here until they can begin their own band or get their own land.

LONELY LOTUS VALLEY
Here, between two rolling hills, a deep valley filled with lotus grasses that grow to your knees is home to the wandering bands of Borea. These herds have no settled home, but they are just as organized and powerful as the established herds.

This is the land of night, located at the eastern base of the northern mountains. The ground is craggy and rocky underfoot, not fit for those who aren't extremely sure-footed. A brooke flows over rock slippery smooth with time, and across the bank grows a plentiful patch of grass.

This is the land of the dawn. Through the trees overhead the sun peeks through, sending dapples onto the forest floor. Nettles and small forest blossoms push through the tangle of scrub grass and lush, dewey sweet grasses. Down the slope has collected a small pool of rainwater, and over it's mirror-like surface has sprouted water lilies and cowslips.

SOL
This is the land of the sun. A long plain of savannah grass, the land is rough and unkempt; golden grasses dot its surface like liquid gold, swaying unde the touch of the breeze, reaching up to sparkle beneath the rays of light. It is warm, almost unbearably warm, and the few cypress trees that dot the plain offer litle to no shade. It is not a place for the sensitive.

LUN
The terra of the moon. The cove is dull, charcoal grey during the daytime. The sound of the waves crashing aganst the sandy shore is ever-present, and the crabgrass that grows along the higher shore is salty and tangy. At night, the full moon shines its reflection upon the black waves.

REGAL TWILIGHT HILL
This is where horses who are no longer on mortal turf may meet with the still living and give them advice and talk to them, maybe catch up a bit. Beware, though, it is not good to exist in the past. Horses have often become addicted to seeing their loved ones again, and have driven themselves mad with visits here.

THE BANDS OF THE AFTERLIFE
After death, horses lose their mortal, feuding ways. All is peaceful and lovely in the herds of the deceased, but that doesn't mean they don't stick to old traditions. Just as you had a band in your life, you may always collect horses in the afterlife to join your family. Don't become too power hungry, though -- there's only one place to go if you get kicked out of these pearly gates.
