Hi
Does anyone here do working trials, I'm deseperate to get into it with my boy. He does agility so the jumping shouldnt be a problem and he used to do obedience so with a bit of polishing the control side should be managable. The thing I'm not sure of is the tracking and the search. The nearest club to me that does working trials is a fair way off so I would have to go it alone most of the time.

Is it possible to train a dog to track alone, I have tried laying short tracks with a toy at the end and he does them well but I'm worried about when they get longer and he needs to practise on other peoples tracks (unless I started tracking walkers as they cross our field).

Also does anyone have any tips for good books or links to good websites?

Cheers Sam

Actually, I compete in working trials with my Jack Russell!!

The best web site I found was an American one - the url to which I lost when my hard drive died!!!!!

To find a club or ask questions there is Working Trials UK

There is also a Working Trials email list with Yahoo that is pretty good for help and info.

You will love it - there is nothing better than fopllowing your dog round a track and knowing they've got it right!!!!
