Maggie is about 19.5" to withers and she did weigh 17.5kg when she was about 12 months old.

However, in the last few months, although she eats loads, we also do lots of exercise and she has actually lost some weight and is now more like 16-16.5kg.

I was thinking of upping her food, but I think she is about right - she looks good, I can feel her individual ribs but not see them and she has a light covering of skin/fat over them. She is almost 18 months old.

So to compare, how tall are your lot vs height, age, male/female - plus exercise level? :)

I had 2 boys recently weight at the vets. One is around 55 cm ( 21.5 inches) the other one slightly smaller. Both weight 18.3 kg and are slim underneath their coat :) I think all this numbers don't really mean a lot, as every dog is so different :)

Now your asking....hmmm....

Zak is roughly 20" and weighs around 20 kg.

Amber is rougly 18" and weighs around 15 kg.

Sky is roughly 19" and weighs around 16 kg.

Incy is roughly 19" and weighs around 16 kg.

I haven't had mine weighed for ages but Sky is due for a trip to the vets so I may take them all along to be weighed :) Since my last weighing Zak has been on a diet and Incy has gained weight.

Mine do a lot of exercise, long walks, running around chasing one another, swimming, agility and flyball.

Thanks guys.

yes redborder, I think you are right, they are all so different - thats why I try and go on what they look like and feel like in general.

I was just a bit worried that mags had lost about 1-1.5 kg in the last few months and was wondering about upping her food...

But I guess she is about the same as mistymilo's sky and prob has similar exercise levels, so perhaps she has just loss some puppy fat as she gets older and as her exercise has been upped...she is definitely eating healthier now too...

Scooby was weighed and measured in may before he was castrated and he was 20" and weighed 18.5kg but he seems to have put a little bit of weight on and he looks quite healthy for that little bit he has put on.

Poppy is around 18" and weighs about 18.5kg but i haven't had her weighed

you've got me thinking now and i may take a trip to the vets with them to see x

Jock (BC) 20" weighs 22.5Kg
He is 12-13 very stocky built. Minimal exercise, has a nice plod around with a
little trot now and again.

Bailey (Lab) 18" weighs 22.5Kg
She is 3, small but typical roly poly lab shape. Her main exercise is chasing with
the other dogs and scaveging.

Tizzy (BC X) 15" weighs 11Kg
She is 2, think of sheltie size but without the thick coat. She is very active and
does flyball.

Breeze (BC) 20" weighs 12.5Kg
She is only 7mths. Very active as in play and always on the go.

This may sounds obsessive but I have weighed my dogs every month for the last 3ish yrs. Not to check on their weight, I do that by eye and feel over their ribs, but out of curiosity.

When we had Bailey my friend also had 2 lab pups, it was obvious at around 3 mths that they would all be vastly different in shape and size so we started to weigh them regularly as a comparison.
When we got Tizzy, knowning she was a BC X, but was going to smaller than a BC we tried to find a way of estimating what her adult weight would be.

I found through Ehow that a good estimate was at 2.5 mths they would be 25%, 4mths 50% and 6mths 75%. This formula did not work for my dogs, although the 75% at 6mths does seem pretty acurate. If Tizzy was 25% at 2.5 mths she should be 16Kg and she is 11Kg.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it would be interesting if people have kept their puppy weights to see if there is a calculation that works.

Rory is 22" and usually weighs around 22-24 kilos.
Ben is 21" and usually weighs around 18-20 kilos.

Ben always looks quite skinny because of his smooth coat, but the vet is very happy with both of them and always looks over them and is so happy with their muscle tone. And of course muscle weighs more than fat. Both Rory and Ben are taller than the others, so i expect them to weigh more.

:)

It's really interesting to see the huge variation in heights and weights! So even those that are similar heights are all different weights but still look just right...

Amber is even lighter than you thought then! She is lovely and dainty :)
