At 12 months, her puppy fur will be long gone. Has she had a season yet and, if so, when? Sounds like a bitch who's blowing her coat.

Is it just that she is moulting her winter coat maybe?

Maggie's fur is coming out in clumps at the mo and our house has fur balls all over!! With the slightly warmer weather we have started getting I am having to brush her every day to clear out the dead undercoat (although maggie does have a very thick coat so thats why there is so much)...

If her season was 4 months ago then she could be losing her coat prior to the next, a lot of bitches lose coat around 2 months before their season and then it is almost grown back when they go into season. They all have their individual style!

Yes, all our entire bitches blew their coats between seasons...they look pretty sorry for themselves when out of coat too...it's a heavier moult than the normal spring moult and even heavier if they actually have pups....nearly bald then:S

Blowing her coat is part of growing up :)

She is at the age were she will be going through her junior moult. Her coat will fall out in masses and you will be wondering if it will ever grow back lol, it will take a while for it to re-grow fully.

It's a part of whole life for an entire bitch...all ours blew their coat like that between every season all their lives. Don't have that anymore with sleet and Wren since being spayed but Sleet had three seasons before that happened and blew her coat three times...the last time after being spayed but brought on by the last season she had before being spayed.

Tell me about it!! After having a very short haired Boxer I thought there was a blizzard in my house when Smarti started to loose her coat!! and that was approx 2 mths ago and now in season!! I was expecting her season this month but not the amount of hair for her to loose! But as mentioned before her coat is starting to come back so roll on the next Blowing her coat session!! lol

I found it was the tail and backs of the hind legs where the hair took longest to return to full length and, just as it did, they started blowing it again. I reckon about 10% of our entire bitches time was spent with proper full coat. The rest was spent moulting, out of coat or growing it back:P Something I don't miss since having my two spayed.:p
