Title: Well done Dita and Karen

Well done Dita for winning under grad bitch with Bliss at Crufts yesterday trophy1st such a shame that you're giving up with the collies, one of the few remaining breeders who still breeds dogs that resemble what a working dog should be!!!

And also well done to Karen and Diva for winning graduate bitch partyyyy trophy1st

Was interesting yesterday, I was watching the BC showing with a few of my agility friends and all the comments were on how the BC show people have ruined the breed, short legs, fat rolling bodies and crap movement..... have to say, I agree... and each year there are fewer and fewer exceptions!!

I was also at the breed ring for awhile and totally agree with your comments Char I was totally shocked by some of the collies which were certainly not fit for purpose headwallbash

I think the fact they qualified in the first place is worrying enough!

Well done girls! trophy1st

Had a chuckle at the phrase 'show corgies'. Know just what you mean, the owner of an agility club I used to go to commented to me that a show collie in one of the classes looked like a BC cross Corgi rather than a proper BC lol. Kind of puts into perspective the discussion of the sheepdog work test to make up a full champion in the Debates section.

Well done!

I also think these show collies look like corgies, especially as I used to know a corgixcollie!

Thanks everyone, I was very pleased with Bliss, and also Callum who was 3rd in open dog, but yes that was my last show with my Border Collies.

Dont get me started here, I cannot abide what has become of the show Border Collie. The yanks call them Barbie dogs, but even Barbie has an air of elegance about her. Most of todays show dogs are far from elegant.

Very very sad indeed.

I agree.

Barbie dogs? I havent heard that before!

We show sams, and luckily they haven't really changed. I don't think we'd be interested in showing them if they did. It would ruin their character.

Recently a couple of our agility members qualified for Crufts for life with their show dog.
We have 3 collies in the club about the same size - borderline Medium (17ins or thereabouts). 2 are from farms (light and agile) and the other as above.
Guess which one has trouble getting over the jumps - partly because it's the wrong shape and partly because it tires quickly, by the owners' own admission.
And I was told by the husband that theirs was like BCs are supposed to be!
Nice couple and a nice dog, but not what I'd call a BC.

Yeah the term Barbie Collie is used a lot around here when speaking of conformation BCs.

Some showy bcs do look very un-practical i have 2 that look quite showy but far from the fat bcs that couldn't run if they tried lol.

Seen the Barbie Collie phrase used a lot on none UK based forums.
