Title: English National Sheep Dog Trial
oldshep - July 25, 2011 08:31 AM (GMT)
The English National is held between 11-13 August at Lower Boxhill Farm, Dorking Surrey. It is a great day (3 days!) out and there is always a lot to see and a lot going on. I can thoroughly recommend it!

Looks like a fun day out, however, I'm on holiday then so won't be going!

Would love to go but am off to Wales for 10 days at the end of the month for some serious sheepdog trialling/training! & so I dare not ask hubby to hold the fort yet again while I go down to Dorking. Maybe next year...
Do you know when the ISDS will announce the venue for 2012?

Sorry no, don't know about next year but will ask when I am down there. Are you going to Pembroke by any chance?

Will be staying just outside Llandrindod Wells. There are quite a few trials being held around there over the b/hol w/end. I'm going with a friend who goes every year. Think my boy Jack and I might be a little out of our depth to say the least as we are only just out of the nurseries (and a novice handler to boot), but it will be a great experience & i'm looking forward to it with a mixture of excitement and trepidation! I've heard those Welsh sheep are wild!!! yikes

We use Black Welsh and Balwen for training and they are a tad flighty!

Congrats to all those involved in organising the English Nationals. A very friendly environment and people that took time to explain what was going on to the non sheep dog people that were watching. Handlers and dogs were great ambassadors.
