In Character

01. Godmodding: Godmodding in all forms is strictly prohibited. Any and all instances of any character using abilities beyond what has been accepted, or controlling or harming another character without the permission of that character’s author, will be immediately reprimanded with the maximum penalty being banning. There is to be no NPCing or controlling characters that do not exist, except for those directly related to your character (such as their family). In other words, if the character can be adopted, you should not control them. This may, however, be acceptable with the permission of the RPG Staff. Metagaming is another form of godmodding and, as such, is unacceptable (metagaming, for those who do not understand the term, is assuming that your character knows things that she or she could not possibly know given their history and place in the game.) Please make an active effort to draw a line between what you, as a member, know and what your character knows.

02. Posts: All in-character posts should be written in 3rd person and in past tense. It should also be noted that here at Resident Evil: Black Friday, the minimum posting length is 400 words (which is four good sized paragraphs). As this is a play-by-post game, we like to make posts interesting to read, rather than simply or confusing. It should also be noted that using smilies to express emotions in IC posts is also forbidden. Quotation marks are also to be used whenever a character speaks. No asterisks would be used in the determining of a character’s actions. We would like to hold a certain standard for writing here at Black Friday, so there will be no exception to this rule. Also note that if a member has more than a single character in one thread, posts for each character MUST be posted in their respective character accounts. Single, multi-character posts, while convenient, are confusing and perpetuate a lack of detail.

03. Rating: Public threads on Resident Evil: Black Friday have a rating of R as is required because of its easy accessibility. Any thread which contains content which is higher that R, meaning anything with lots of gore or any sex scenes, is strictly prohibited.

04. Activity: Every member must be conscious of maintaining in-character activity. IC posts should be made at a minimum of once, every two weeks for each character a member has. Continual or particularly long absences from members will be frowned upon by the staff. Resident Evil: Black Friday will hold an Activity Check roughly once every three months. Those not responding to that check will have their character accounts deleted and their applications removed. Those who continue to violate activity rules (3 violations/9 months) will be permanently restricted from all RPG-ing.

05. Plots: Here on Resident Evil: Black Friday, plots are certainly encouraged. However, if that plot affects things of a wide scale, members are required to run it by one of the RPG Staffers before starting anything. By the same token, members must obtain permission from an RPG Staffer prior to involvements in major staff plots. Unauthorized interaction may lead to unnecessary complications in the continuity of the storyline, which we naturally wish to avoid. If you do have ideas of your own, don’t hesitate to suggest it to the staff so we may include them in one of the future staff plots, if realistic.

06. The Shop: Please understand that the shop is there to provide you with items and equipment for your character, as a sort of reward system for being active and posting. Cheating and "stealing" items from the shop by just giving them to your character is something we take very seriously, and will be met with the maximum penalty, AKA a ban. This ban will last for roughly a month, and after that will be a three month probationary period, in which you'll be monitored for further offenses. If you violate your probation for any reason, it will result in a permanent ban.

07. Drastic Changes: Any member who wishes to kill off their character, canon or not, should be considerate of the plots at hand. If your character’s death would cause a major shift in a current plot, you must contact the RPG Staff or the Admins for permission before doing it. If your character is a canon character, you must obtain permission regardless. This same rule applies for drastic changes in canon character personalities.
