Mercy Howard-Steed
(Mercy is currently involved in a serious romantic relationship with Fergus.)

Mercy is a well-off American, and works at the National Museum in Cardiff. She is lonelier than she realizes, and will probably jump at the chance for company, perhaps even dismissing any sense of danger that might come along with it. She is a gentle, loving, absent-minded woman, who is occasionally a bit removed.

I'm not above the notion of letting her be fodder for a crazy vampire plot, or even having her go to that great fictional characters graveyard, should a plot prove interesting enough for the sacrifice. If you have any ideas, or just need a human to bully, humiliate, or toss around, let me know. Mercy is most likely to get herself into trouble trying to help someone.

William Herrick
(Herrick is romantically interested in Saskia Thorne.)

Herrick is very busy trying to rebuild a level of influence with the other vampires in Barry comparable to what he had in Bristol, so he's most apt to interact in ways that will further that goal. That also means that he will be open to interacting with pretty much anyone of any species, provided they have something useful to offer him in return.

Given his job as a police sergeant, he spends a fair amount of time at the Barry Police Station, but can be seen around town at any given time while on call. Again, given his drive to ascend the vampire ranks, he could potentially agree to meet anyone at any location. He's really too ambitious to dismiss any potentially useful encounter.

Herrick's goals:
- Re-establish his status amongst other vampires.
- Participate in the ascension of vampires over humanity.
- Assist Hettie, and the others, in the resurrection of Mr. Snow.

Sykes
(Sykes is currently involved in a budding romantic relationship with Lenore Evermore.)

Sykes has spent decades wandering the Earth as a ghost, but recently has learned of some unusual activity in the Barry Island area, chiefly ghosts leaving the afterlife by returning back through doors belonging to the recently deceased. He also aims to find out if there's any truth to these misused doors causing the appearance of reanimated corpses.

Ostensibly investigating the unusual nature of these abrupt returns, what Sykes isn't willing to admit to himself is that he fears some of his more vengeful squad members might wish to return and seek him out and wants to find out why this is happening. Zombies are a useful diversion, in keeping Sykes from looking too deeply into his true motivations.

-To find the ghost or ghosts who've returned through other people's doors.
-To find out if there's any truth to those reanimated corpse rumours.
-To avoid, at all costs, crossing over to the afterlife.

Thomas Martin
(Thomas is currently involved in a serious romantic relationship with Kit Kuipers.)

Thomas has been dispatched by the vampire community in London to assess what's been going on in Barry. After an explosion that killed some of the top Old Ones, and the highly publicised investigation of the Box Tunnel 20 Massacre leading there, London thought it was high time to send one of their best men out to get things sorted and feed them details.

He is something of a 'clean-up' specialist in his native London. In that community, if a vampire does something that risks exposing their existence to the world at large, it's Thomas's job to go in and clean up the mess. His function in London is similar to the role Wyndham played, although it remains to be seen if those powers will extend to the Barry/Cardiff area.

-To find out the current status of the vampire populace in Barry.
-To verify if the rumours of Mr. Snow's pending resurrection are true.
-To maintain an open channel of intelligence to the London vampire community.

Randolph Carter
(Randolph is not involved in romantic relationships.)

To describe Randolph as ‘odd’ or ‘awkward’ is something of an understatement. Most people who get to know him (or even just pass by him in public) think he’s mad as a hatter, but he doesn’t fully see or understand the effect he has on people. He is not a bad man, nor is he dangerous. He’s just very quirky and impassioned about the supernatural.

Most people see him as a man who faints at the sight of blood, or raw seafood, or in cold weather, and who eats cold beans directly from dented cans, and they dismiss him. Those select few who give him a chance find that he is brilliant, loyal, and a warm friend. He makes his living as an editor, but spends much more time and effort in hunting the paranormal.

Randolph’s Goals:
-Proving the existence of all manner of crypto and supernatural creatures
-Repeatedly attending local ‘haunted tours’ in the hopes of recording supernatural phenomena.

Tyrus Cobb
(Tyrus is not currently involved in a romantic relationship.)

Tyrus is an American who’s come to Barry because he’s rapidly running out of vampire communities in American where he’s welcome. The reason for this is simple: unlike most vampires, he doesn’t hate werewolves and is a vocal sympathizer. He doesn't like them being locked up at Stoker and is already starting to dream up ways to sneak them out

Because of his volatile and pugnacious temperament, Ty spends a lot of time alone but doesn’t really like to. He’s always on the lookout to make new friends and to just have fun. He’s a cheap bastard, plays rough, and is fond of trash talking others, but he also loves to eat, drink, go out, and have a good time. He wants to meet others and get to know Barry better.

Tyrus's goals:
- Try to get settled into the vampire community in Barry.
- Make new friends. He mainly sticks to other supernaturals but won’t turn down a fun human.
- At odds with goal #1, he would like to free unfairly imprisoned werewolves from Stoker.

Dominic Rook
(Rook is not involved in romantic relationships.)

Rook is preoccupied with the possible dissolution of the Department of Domestic Defence and spends a great deal of time thinking about ways to save the department. He’s not so small-minded as to think only of his own job and is more concerned with the risk to humanity as a whole. With this weighing on him, he’ll be open to all sorts of shady plans and dealings to see the DoDD stay afloat.

There should be plenty of opportunity for interacting with Mr. Rook. His job brings him in contact with all types of contacts, and he’s apt to meet many other characters through his routine operations. He also may become desperate enough to grasp at nearly any straw to save his Men In Grey. He travels extensively, going anywhere his job dictates, so plotting is wide open.

Rook's Goals:
- Save the DoDD if at all possible.
- Failing that, operating under the auspices of some other benefactor or organisation.
- Ensure humanity’s safety from the monsters that roam the world.

Ian Cram (Crumb)
(Crumb is not currently involved in a romantic relationship.)

Ian is in a very wishy-washy state. He’s recently become a vampire and can’t decide whether to embrace the change or reject it. He’s not a bad sort and a lot of the time, using or killing people for food doesn’t sit well with him. The problem is that he gets tired of being teased, humiliated, embarrassed and rejected. It makes him angry, and when you’re an angry new vampire, you get violent and enjoy it.

Depending upon one’s viewpoint, Crumb might benefit from the company of a ‘dry’ vampire. Given his current state, he’s teetering on the edge between ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ and it isn’t clear on which side he’ll fall. For him, with whom he associates will make all the difference. He’s not particular about with whom he keeps company: werewolves, vampires, ghosts, humans, they’re all fine with him.

- Take Alex on a date. If not possible, take any decent female on a date.
- Play Flaming Orc with some like-minded mates.
- Try to find a vampire (or vampires) willing to teach him the ropes.

I reckon there are opportunities between Mercy and Regus. He works at the National Museum Cardiff & Art Gallery, so I bet that they’d bump each other fairly regularly. Would she work there? They could work together on a project perhaps?

Also, he loves books and horror films. Maybe they’d make good friends?

Did you want her to learn about vampires? She could always catch Regus doing something incriminating (drinking somebody’s blood, doing the eyes and the fangs).

I was thinking she and Regus would encounter each other, probably semi-regularly. She would definitely work at the museum, if given the opportunity, so if you're OK with that, I would have her go that route. I think the two of them working on the same project is likely, as they seem to have somewhat harmonious disciplines in the field.

The two of then have the potential to be friends, I think. I am definitely open to her eventually stumbling across the supernatural world. Depending on how it all goes, he might be the perfect candidate to expose supernaturals, since she would have the chance to encounter him often, and he isn't the luckiest or most elegant of creatures.

Kit is obscenely wealthy, so she may have a trinket or two that needs appraising for insurance. Given that Christie's is too inconvenient for her to travel, plus the fact that she's entirely willing to get to know the area, she may find Mercy at the museum. (While her peers would simply send for someone from Sotheby's or Christie's, Kit is stubborn and likes to do things for herself, like pump petrol at Waitrose and shop at Tesco or find her own darn appraiser.)

She is also planning on being a frequenter of the chip shop, so there's that!

Also, if your Herrick app is approved, I'd love to play around with him. *wicked fangirl crushing ahead* lol? They could meet at her office at either the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, or at the Central Police Station's Office of the Coroner. At the former, she'd be performing CFP duties and cutting up bodies for fun and science, and at the latter, she'd be filling out paperwork, ordering inquests, and advising DI's about whether or not their victims were foul play.

I could go for this. There could be a "by word of mouth" factor involved that gets Kit to seek her out in the museum, maybe? Like most appraisers, Mercy has only two or three areas in which she specializes, and then a couple more in which she can give good educated guesses, but I'm sure we could work that much out.

Since he's such a believer in recruiting "key" people, it should be easy to arrange for them to meet. He'll want to sniff around a bit to see how receptive Kit might be to fixing paperwork on their victims, and possibly recruiting her at some point, if that's a direction you'd like to go.

Did you have a preference on how/where they ought to first encounter?

I have two threads open right now if you want to hop into either of them, but I wouldn't mind if you started one. She could be at a hospital performing an autopsy, or at the coroner's office, doing paperwork. I was hoping Hal would jump in at the chip shop, but Kit's new office is catching fire at the police station.

Yes, that's definitely the direction I want her to go -- being recruited, eventually. I'm certain he'd take his time with her. Also, she's receptive to helping vampires if they exist *coughscoughs* in the hopes that they'll turn her.

Making it official that Michaela and Mercy must have a thread together. Perhaps with Regus, unless Anon doesn't want to, but they could meet at the Cardiff Museum while they're both looking for Regus.
