We were awakened too early. We, meaning everyone on board the ages of 16 to 21. Everyone else is fast asleep in their pods for another 250 years, waiting for the destination planet. No matter what we try, we can't go back into stasis. That means we have to live the rest of our lives on this ship with each other- that is, if we can survive...
The Terminal In an airport-like terminal on Earth, passengers drag their luggage over the aluminum floor as the crew guides them to the correct loading zone. Families say goodbye to their friends, fully knowing that it will be last time they will ever see them again.
The Loading Zone Passengers anxiously wait next to their standing glass pods that they will be sleeping in for the next 300 years. They scrutinize their neighbors, wondering how they got the ticket to board the Aurora. The doctors in lab coats patiently wait for the signal to start injecting the passengers to sleep while the guards watch for stowaways.
Day of the Event Each of the stasis pods opened a few minutes apart, one by one, jolting certain passengers awake. One passenger was already long out, wondering aimlessly around. Two pods were smashed in, one of which held a dead passenger. The more alert passengers raced to their storage bins on the other side of the area to claim their belongings as the fitful, terrified wailing began.
Floor Plan of the Pod Room
The Control Room The huge room is filled with unfamiliar flashing lights and glowing buttons. A large table made for strategy and mapping sits in the center of the room, cluttered with mission files and instruction booklets. A set of pilot chairs faces a control console with a view of the inky darkness of space. The ship appears to be on autopilot.
Lounge and Dining Sturdy rows of metal tables line the room with a few comfortable couches along the side. Freeze-dried packets of food are secure behind a locked, metal door. The water tank is also behind a locked door, since it might only last a few years at most.
Main Corridor Navigating through the hallways of the ship may be confusing at first, but passengers quickly get used to it. The elevators and stairs connect to the corridors that go down to the third level.
Viewing Room An auditorium-like room, the viewing room is a relaxing place with reclining chairs facing a large window that fills up the entire wall that makes someone feel like they are in the open of space.
Escape Pods and Air Locks This is the main entrance of the ship containing a hidden compartment with eight escape pods that were never intended for use. There is also an air lock, not to be opened while in space since it jettisons anything..or anyone who is unfortunate enough to be on the wrong side when it opens. Careful, only one person has the key to activate it.
The Stasis Pods Hundreds of passengers rest in these peaceful pods, not ready to wake for another 250 years. A few of the awake come here to try to figure out what happened and make futile attempts to go back to sleep. However, most of them come here to visit their loved ones, hovering over their parents and siblings who stay eternally young. Floor Plan
