Alrighty! Here we go! The first installment of the Arapas News. This will be a (hopefully) bi-weekly update I complete just to let everyone know what's going on now and what is planned for the future. So, without further ado....

Arapas News

Within the Weyr

The As Days Go By firelizard clutch has finally hatched! Congratulations to all the proud new owners of these the first firelizards of Arapas! More information will be coming soon on the strange new "cobalt midnight" firelizard, so be on the lookout for that as well. You never know, quite a surprise could be in store.

Candidates prepare! To Touching of the Twilight Dreams Clutch is soon in the coming! How many of you dare to face the wrath of the Midnight Mother and Touch her precious clutch? Will she find any worthy of her eggs? Ada certainly doesn't think so, but that won't stop her from forcing Serzyth to relent. Be prepared!

There seems to be a couple new arrivals meeting up in the Candidates Barracks. Perhaps a few more ought to join them and create a party of it?

And speaking of parties...there seems to be one in the Hatching Sands currently. Seems a couple Candidates decided to try and see the eggs for themselves. Luckily Ada was able to intervene before Serzyth bit their heads off. Could there be any others to come and join their polite discussion?

The Holds

Though not much has gone on recently, things have been a bit stirred up by the arrival of one washed-up Lyra. She claims to come from a place called "Deeprock Hold" near "Fort Weyr." What are these places? Though Lyra has since transfered to the Weyr in hopes of answering some of the Weyrleader's questions, the Harpers of the Hold continue to burrow through the oldest of Records in search for an answer. Could there really be another place beyond their wide Sea?

Up and Coming

Well, obviously there's the Hatching. Currently we have 9 out of 16 Candidates needed to begin said Hatching. Come on y'all! Hope to it and get those characters created! Those eggs won't wait forever!

Speaking of creating characters, there are still many high-ranking positions up for grabs, and every position is in desperate need of characters. Green, blue, and brownriders are especially appreciated since they are fewest in number currently. I know there's not many of us here yet, so I'm hoping more numbers will turn into more characters to fill out the Wings.

Open Positions:
*Junior Weyrwoman (haven't made up my mind yet, so still taking apps)
*Bronzeriders (The Wingleader position has been taken, but that leaves 3 spots including Wingsecond and Third)
*Midnightrider (one spot has been taken. One is still up for grabs.)
*Weyrlingmaster (heaven forbid anyone actually want this position, but it's here.)
*Candidate Master (not really that strenuous. Just organize a few 'get-togethers' in the barracks sometime.)
Crafters of Any Rank (preferably journeyman, but an occassional Master is accepted. PM me for the Master positions)
CANDIDATES (male preferably. we currently need 7 to begin the Hatching)
Wherhandlers (application necessary for gold, bronze, or green. none needed for blue or brown)
*Dusk Wherhandlers (currently accepting 2)
Holders of Any Sort (just populate the Hold people. that's what part of you char quota is for)

* means PM application necessary for positions, aka don't post without letting me see and approve the profile first

Speaking of not many people, there might actually be a contest in the future regarding this fact. Perhaps a rather...interesting rewards could be in store for someone...a gold firelizard maybe? Keep your eyes peeled for that!

There are still many positions open to be created! This includes 2 more bronzeriders, one Midnightrider, and just about any crafter you can think of. Get some profiles made people!

We are short on Candidates! Currently, we are in need of 6 Candidates to get this Hatching underway. Please, if anyone is going to create more Candidates, please, please, PLEASE create male ones. There's a 6:4 ratio of girls to guys right now. We need more boys!

Uh...that's it for the random update. This thing will become more regular once the Weyr gets on its feet and off at a full sprint.

Arapas News

Within the Weyr

The Touching of the Twilight Dreams Clutch seems to have gotten off to a wonderful start. Only one Candidate ran from the Sands in fear, so Ada considers that quite the accomplishment. That means Serzyth only frightened one lad to the point of running. Those of you who have not gotten your Candidates to the Sands, might want to consider it, though I think everyone has come. Well done, y'all!

The Sands continue to warm the eggs, their shells continuing to harden. What could this mean? Perhaps a Hatching in the future? Prepare your Candidates! The Hatching of the Twilight Dreams is nigh! Just what will hatch from this myriad of eggs? Only the Sands will tell!

It appears a greenriding pair have taken advantage of the summer weather to hit the beach! Maybe a couple others could join them? Challenge them to a breath-holding contest? A staring contest between dragons? That could get interesting.

There are a couple other threads still open, one with a lonely greenrider stuck in his weyr. He could use a little company I think.

There seems to be something going on in the Lower Caverns with a Candidate and Drudge. They might need a bit of help in the Healer arena. Anyone willing to throw some help their way?

The Hold

Not much is going on here at the moment, though Greenrider Taesri has successfully Searched young Galental to Stand at Serzyth's Hatching. Though it took the promise of marks to persuade him, Raeth still thinks he will make a good rider one day.

There seems to be something going on between two of the Hold's Wherhandlers. Is it possible that Sarel get under Rhys' skin? Probably not, but conversation never hurts. And it seems the whers are hitting it off as well. Maybe Saresk is just a bit too...willing for her own could. A Run could be in her near future.

Elsewhere

Reports to the Tillek Dolphinhall have been rather interesting of late. The dolphins keep mentioning friends in Western pods and how their partners are "so silly." This has the dolphineers utterly confused and the Dolphinmaster of Tillek consulting the Weyrs. Perhaps the secret of Arapas won't remain a secret much longer...

CONTEST!!! That's right! Arapas' first contest is officially underway! Check out the Contest forum for more details on prizes and rules. This contest ends on the 27th!

Speaking of the 27th....Hatching! The Hatching is scheduled for the 27th of February! Get those Candidates ready! There's no telling what will Hatch from this unique clutch!

Activity. Please remember to keep activity up, y'all! There are plenty of opportunities to post completely random threads. Even if you think you have a bad idea for a thread, post it anyway. A little mischief every now and then is cherished by the wisest men.

The Jr. Weyrwoman debate has yet to be settled. With unexpected drop-outs, there remain fewer candidates than I would like. So. If you are in any way interested in applying for this position, please get your apps to me ASAP. If you happen to get the position, it will have absolutely NO effect on what dragons your Candidates Impress at the Hatching. So, please. Get your apps in ASAP.

As for the Midnightrider apps...Congratulations to the newest Midnightrider Eira and Grey Midnight Ceth, created by Sivoriana! Enjoy your new pair Siv!

Up and Coming

Be on the look-out for some plot threads in the near future. With the rumors now spreading in Tillek of something in the West, things could become interesting for Arapas and Pax very soon.

The Hatching, of course. Who's excited?! Zulu's excited!

Some plots involving dolphins are in the works to be posted. Anyone interested in playing a dolphin pair, get some profiles up pronto! It should be a rather interesting journey.

Quick reminder folks! All Jr. Weyrwoman applications are due to me NO LATER than Friday at 12 noon PST. After that, I WILL be announcing the winner of the contest. So if you're planning on entering, hurry up with your applications!

Arapas' FIRST EVER Dragon Hatching is just this Friday! Make sure you get those Candidates ready for it! I can guarantee you want to be there!

Arapas News

First off, I'd like to apologize for my lack of involvement thus far in Arapas. My school life is rather hectic right now, so I'm not able to be on nearly as much as I would like. For that reason, plots are slow, and the Weyr is slowly dying. Just as a warning, if this continues, I may put Arapas into a "deepfreeze" until summer, when I will have more time to post and keep her running. If you'd like to offer your opinion on this, feel free to PM me. Until then, Arapas remains open, so please try and stay active despite my very bad example.

Within the Weyr

Not much is really happening in our delightful Weyr. This makes for a very sad Zulu. Especially when lots could be going on...

Such as a plot thread in the Rider's Weyrs. It seems our Weyrwoman, Kara, is trying to figure things out. And--as always with Records--some things that were expected to be remembered were of course, forgotten in the Records. So. With a call to Midnightrider Lyra and the ranking dragons of Arapas--though not only they may come; bring on your greens and blues as well--she is trying to discover what Lyra means by "Fort Weyr" as well as decipher some reports from the Dolphin Hall in Pax.

Weyrling Lessons have begun! Get your Weyrlings to them if you don't want more chores for them. Lesson 1 is currently in the works, and a few of you have already posted in it. if you see other that haven't, please remind them. Politely, though. No harassing allowed.

Lesson 2 will be posted either late today or tomorrow evening. Be ready for some fun with Weyrlingmaster E'lon!

The Hold

Little to nothing is actually happening here as well. A few Wherhandlers have seemed to get themselves in interesting situations, however. With a greenhandler being rescued by brownhandler Lodor, and Duskhandler Rhys seeming to open up to someone...could any of these lead to more than just innocent friendships?

The Dolphin Hall as continued to receive some interesting reports about pods to the east of Arapas. What could these report entail? Will the Weyrwoman know what to do?

Up and Coming

Could there be a Flight in the future? With no Weyrleader, and Isyth yet to Rise this turn, she is overdue. This Flight would determine the leadership of the Weyr and finally give Kara someone else to rely on besides herself to manage the Weyr. Get those bronzes and browns ready! Isyth will not be an easy one to Catch!

Weyrling Lesson 2 is on the way! But until then, make sure to post in the current Lesson so you can get your young dragon pairs up to speed on the latest rages in dragon care products.

Arapas is currently accepting applications for Dolphineers to be used in an upcoming plot! Hurry and post your pairs today!

Bronzerider are needed! If you've ever wanted a bronze, but either never had the time to devote to one or never received one in a Hatching, this is your chance! I am now accepting three more active bronzeriders to Arapas' Wings! Please send me your applications via PM for review.
