Kay has the ability to see visions of the past. They are triggered by touch, whether it is a person or an object. This is called Retrocognition or postcognition. Everything has a sense of where it’s been, Kay just picks up on that. There is no need to torture someone when she’s around, all she had to do it touch the person and go digging though their past. It can be a lengthy process, but over the years she’s been able to rummage though the memories better then she could before when she first started.

If she were to pick up a penny on the street, Kay would be able to see where that penny has been. It works for most objects; there have been a few times where she can’t get anything off the object. Kay loves touching something that may have had a gruesome history. Touch a gun and she will see the people that the gun had shoot. She dislikes boring objects. Also, she is able to store the memories and recall them at a later time.

Kay discovered that it was possible to alter a person's memory. In order to make sense of all the memories that she keeps from others, Kay has a metal library to which she organizes everything. When entering another's mind to get their memories, she uses the same analogy. So it would be very easy to alter someone's books in their library. (make sense?) While interrogation requires no torture with her, Kay like to do it anyway. She fills their minds with anything gruesome or terrible. It’s enough to get them to talk without rummaging through their life. With this, she must also touch the person for it to work.

On some occasions, Kay can be overwhelmed by the incoming images that she gets from people. She has to concentrate hard on the task of going though someone’s memories. If that concentration slips, she could get stuck in those memories. Her body would then appear to be comatose while she sorts herself out. When she sees her visions, she has no awareness of the world around her, so she is vulnerable to outside forces.

Her power to make others see what she gives them to see won’t work on those who are masterly skilled in telepathy, for example, it would not have work on Xavier. Nor will it work on Magneto when he has his helmet one. When this happens, she will often become overly frustrated and impossible to be around until she has cooled off. Also, she must have physical contact for her mutation to work.

Kay is one of the many beauties to come out of France. Her mysterious green eyes, high cheek bones and long legs are a killer combination, along with her style of clothing. Kay holds her appearance in high standards when out in public. Being a journalist required a certain dress of classy clothes, like pencil skirts and blouses, overcoats and dresses, and other clothing of the like. Usually, she’ll keep her hair up in some sort of fashionable way. After all, there’s no way some this classy can be a mutant. Kay will do anything to make herself appear normal to the human eye.

However, she dress style becomes different, when she is at home and is around her own people. He look is more relaxed; she’ll wear jeans and let down her hair. She has to have some comfortable clothing, especially when doing something that involves her mutant tasks. She can’t hold her own as well in a fight wearing heels and skirt as she can in pants and flats. Kay does have some sense of appropriateness for what she wears and when.

• PERSONALITY:

Kay turned out to be quite different from when she was a child. As a child she was bright and outspoken, a happy child. It all changed when her mutation manifested. Kay is now more reserved; she keeps to herself and keeps everyone at arm’s length. She tends to hide her emotions, so it would be very hard to tell what she was feeling exactly. But try as she might, when she does get angered enough to show, Kay will act impulsively and lash out, often getting her in more trouble than she would like.

Kay often refers to herself in two forms, as Kay, or as her codename Torment, which help her distinguish between the two. She doesn’t have a split personality in the self of a mental disorder, rather she pretends when around human. Torment is a sadistic individual, meaning she takes pleasure out of other people’s pain, especially when she inflicts it. It’s just better not to cross her.

• FAMILY: Mother and Father - deceased, estranged aunt in France.
• BIOGRAPHY:

Katarina Savage was born to Marion and Lukas Savage in Paris, France. Her parents were well endowed with money, so life was lived rather comfortably. As a child Katarina, or Kay as she was most often called, attended a privet school, where she had many friends and good grades. Life almost seemed too perfect. It all changed when Kay was twelve years old. One day, while she was at school, her Aunt came to the school and picked her up early. The girl had a sense that something was wrong, because it was rather unusual for her Aunt to pick her up. She was told that her mother and father were in a car accident, that they were dead. Kay took this news pretty hard; she would not speak to anyone for days.

One night, Kay was trying to go to sleep; she was holding her mother’s favorite ring that she liked to wear, that was collected from her mother’s personal belongings. Her mother had in fact been wearing the ring when she died. Her mutation manifested, and because she was holding the ring, Kay suddenly saw violent images of the car crash and of her parent dying. What she had seen scared her, and when her Aunt came rushing into her room, the incident was chalked up to being only a bad dream. It didn’t stop, and Kay kept seeing things that she was not normally suppose to see.

Soon enough, Xavier found her though Cerebro, and sent someone to explain to Kay and her Aunt the nature of what was happening to the twelve year old. They explained that Kay was a mutant with precognitive abilities. To help the young girl, Kay moved to the States to attend school at Xavier’s. There Xavier taught her to organize the memories that she attained. She had to do this because of her photographic memory. As the years went by, Kay graduated and stayed to assist with the other students, as well as start her degree in journalism.

It was this time, when she got older and explored her power even further that she discovered that it could be possible not only to see things in someone’s mind from the past, but perhaps alter it. After relaying this information to Xavier, he suggested that with his power to suppress that part of her power, so that her power was read-only. Kay didn’t take this well and felt betrayed that there was no trust at all with what she was capable of. Kay left the school once and for all shortly before Xavier was killed by Phoenix.

Being out in the real world, on her own, Kay was able to see humans for who they really were. And as the humans hated mutants, she hated humans. Her power was explored further and slowly but surely, she was shaped to be who she is today. Kay feels that the Brotherhood had, and still does, have a goal worth achieving. That there is no way humans and mutants will ever get along in the world, and that they should stop trying.

It was just her luck that her editor would send her to an anti-mutant rally. He did ask her if she had a problem with it, and being the incredible liar she was, she told him that she was neutral to the whole subject. It wasn’t as if she was actually going to admit that she was partial, to the mutants. So here she was, on the sidelines of the rally, notebook in hand, trying to come up with a story that would appease the public.

Kay scoffed inwardly as she read the signs that people carried, about how there should be a mutant registration, about how we didn’t deserve human rights because we weren’t human. And they wonder why we hate them so. There were actually a few good reasons to be here, some would call it recon. To weed though the crowd for any unsuspecting victim for their cause, or at lease for some mind for her to screw up. Her count was only 5 people that she was responsible for sending to the loony bin.

She felt no guilt for the people she hurt, or the lives that she destroyed. It was better not to think about any other way, than just having some fun. If her Aunt back in France could see the side of her that she kept hidden from public eye, she’d take a trip to the loony bin herself.

There was a podium somewhere along the masses that was newly manned, some speaker of some sort. Kay found a spot where she could hear, with her pen at the ready. It looked as if there was no actual story here; she was just going to report what happened. It was as she suspected, the usually ramblings of mutant haters. Kay sighed and shook her head, which was a mistake on her part. Someone saw her to this and decided to make something of it. ”What are you doing here?” the rally person asked. Kay darned a 50 watt smile, ”I’m with the newspaper, just trying to get a story.” she replied, her French accent could be heard despite the years spent in the States.

”You don’t fool me, you’re one of those mutant lovers aren’t you.” Kay raised an eyebrow, ”Does it look like I care was you think, I’m just trying to do my job.” she replied with a cold demeanor. He made the mistake of pointing his finger in her face, as if trying to prove something. ”You’re not going to write anything, mutant lover. We’ll not have you drag us though the mud. Gimme that notebook!” he lunged for the notebook.

With a fluid motion, Kay was able to grab the guys arm and twist it around, causing some serious pain, ” Comment osent vous me montrer de votre doigt!” she told him in French (How dare you stick your finger at me!) ”You ought to have some manners!” with that she let him go, and he backed away from her. Kay walked away before he could make things worse. This wasn’t the time to lose control. And thanks to this guy, she now had a story.
