| ok, this morning i finished Portal, and it was absloutely amazing. I got it for xmas, and waited until yesterday to start playing. In case youve never heard of it, its a first-person puzzle game by valve (they made half-life), in which you are a test subject, and you have to get through 19 levels with a portal gun. this makes it really mind bending. If, say, theres a giant pit of lava in your way, you can just shoot a portal on the other side, and the other on the wall behind you, walk through, and you're across. Anyway, the best part of it was how amazingly hilarious it was. the computer voice that guides you through the levels is amazing. "as you can see, velocity is maintained in transfer through the portals. In layman's terms, speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out." the only complaint is that it is short! 19 levels, averaging ~20 minutes each, if you take your time. it's the perfect difficulty though, you can usually get past any puzzle if you try for long enough. Anyway, i inteded this to be a thread about computer games in general, so to start it off, what are your favorites? aside from portal, I like oblivion, civilizaion 3, and rome total war.
