War has ravaged Pern. The rejection of mutation colors appearing on the sands has given rise to a rebellion - taking up residence in what was once High Reaches Weyr.
With the entire world against them, can the dragonriders of High Ruins survive the periodical raiding from the surviving Weyrs? Or is the clock merely ticking down to their inevitable destruction?

Site Opening Plot Written March 12, 2012 When the Oldtimers came forwards, trouble came with them. Unwilling to merely be shipped south, civil war erupted on Pern. Weyrs were razed. Holds were burned. Now only Benden, Telgar, and Fort Weyr remain. While they are not all perfectly friendly to one another, they still have banded together for their own safety and survival. Diplomatic relations are still maintained, transfers still accepted, everything is working to repair the broken continent. But all was not perfect and peaceful in these Weyrs. Plague effectively wiped out the Firelizard population. If others exist, they have not been discovered. Instead, a strange, feathered sort of creature called 'Ryxaires' have been found, and many have bonded to them in place of flitters. Sickness has also struck the wher population, and has become rare to see them in the wild. Their numbers are in the weyrs, and they have been a valuable asset to them. Due to the drastically reduced number of dragons, inbreeding became more frequent out of necessity. Strange colors began being born on the sands. Roseate. Brass. Frost. Coral. These mutations were greeted with suspicion and scorn. Many were killed by their cluch mothers out of disgust. Others were shoved aside, treated like the lowest of dragonriders, despite how their dragons ranked among one another. More were simply run out of their Weyrs as soon as their dragons were old enough to take care of themselves - though some were run out before their dragons could fly in the hopes that they would die alone in the wastes. These outcasts would not go quietly into the night. Taking over the empty ruins of High Reaches Weyr - renaming it High Ruins - the mutation dragonriders have made their home. They have created a haven out of the shell of a weyr, a safe place for other mutation riders to come when they are chased out and hunted. This rebellion has not escaped the eyes of the Weyrs, and they have become a target for their hatred. Weyrs began raiding them, attacking their dragons, running whers in their tunnels. This is a story of survival. Despite the fact that Thread no longer falls, the rebellion is hunted from all sides. Will they survive? Or will they be swallowed up by fire and hatred? Only time will tell.

Plot Update Written June 10, 2012 Interesting times have fallen on the Ruins. The three clutches all hatched successfully, providing the Ruins with plenty of healthy Neophytes. Not long after that, Fort Weyr launched a two pronged raid. Many of the dragons in the sky were injured, though many of the Weyr dragons were killed and harmed. The main problem was the whers on the ground, as several of them managed to get into the Neophyte Barracks. Fortunately, no Neophytes were killed, but many of them were injured. Tragically, Brown Shinzoth was killed in the raid. But a calm has settled. Coral Perlath clutched, giving the Ruins a few more dragons. A new hound breed was discovered as well, with two puppies taken in, and two adults brought in from new recruits. S'yn of Frost Witcith seems to be departing for his home Hold, intent on getting his vengeance on his brother for the murder of the previous Lord Holder. One hopes that it is not a useless endeavor. A stranger has come to the Ruins as well. An albino dragonrider with a painfully small Coral. Rumor has begun to spread - mostly due to I'vyr - that she is made of Thread, that she is from the Red Star. These rumors have spread through the Ruins, and have lead to both parties attacking one another. Time will tell if the Ruins will accept or reject such an anomaly. How will the coming Turns affect the Ruins? Only time will tell.

Plot Update Written July 31, 2012 Much has happened in the winter. Due to what is perhaps foolishness, Aneirin ordered eggs be stolen away from Fort Weyr. With Green Zanth tending them on the sands, the other dragons and hounds rose to the skies and ground to attack the whers and dragons who came to attack. And why wouldn't they? A coveted gold egg was among the ones stolen. They were to be stolen away. The Ruins defended their homeland, their stolen eggs and their young Neophytes. It was perhaps one of the most brutal raids. A few dragons lost limbs. Many were injured. Aneirin perhaps paid one of the highest prices, both of his hounds were killed by a wher. As the Ruins licked their wounds, the eggs spilled open, showing amazing dragons on the sands. A bronze perhaps has caused a great uproar. Not only to have been born in the Ruins, but impressing to a girl. And it is perhaps not the only change in Pern. Rumors have spread that there are some other bronzes having impressed to girls across Pern. Following the bronze was an ill-fated gold. The shining creature was killed not long after hatching - for Perdoth did not permit a Queen in the Ruins aside from herself. No one has asked her motivations, and many have just assumed that she has gone mad. A strange coral has been born on the sands as well. Deaoth - all black with a white face. And according to his bonded, he is mute. Perhaps the Weyrs are growing more and more mutated as time passes. Rumor has come from one of the Holds, perhaps there is a shifting in their alliances, or perhaps the Lord Holder of Vermir is trying to defy Fort. There is much in the Ruins. It will be interesting to see how things unfold. With Perdoth scheduled to rise soon, and a group of Neophytes about to graduate, one will have to see how the future unfolds.

Plot Update Written October 30, 2012 Through the spring, a calm had settled on the Ruins. There had been new transfers, some new supplies, it seemed as things had become more stable as Brass Perdoth took to the skies once again. Frost Raiseth - leader of the Hearts squad came out the victor, and an unusual clutch graced the sands. There was no dragon who ranked above a coral, certainly odd. All but one Blue found their match, and there had even been a set of twin Blues. Certainly it will be a fine group of scouts and hunters when they grow enough. However, the peace of summer did not last long. There has been a rift between Handlers and Riders. One of the riders - rumored to be Imr'ti of Green Juliath - had poisoned Aneirin, leaving the leader of the Ruins very paranoid and distrustful of the riders. His behavior turned violent, and he stabbed Kr'ade, his Command Second. The Bluerider has tried to keep things calm between the two groups, going so far as to threaten a demotion and punishment to anyone who decides to make the situation worse. The split in the Ruins has threatened to tear the entire 200 Turn strong band apart. How long will this internal conflict last? Will peace return to the Ruins? Or is this the start of the fall?

Plot Update Written November 8, 2012 A devastating raid has hit the Ruins. A surprise raid from Telgar - led by their Junior Weyrwoman - brought a blaze of carnage upon the Ruins. Dragonriders were brutally torn up and killed, so was a precious Neophyte, an a respected Dragonless. But the worst of it all has been the murder of their leader, Aneirin. In his madness, Aneirin locked a majority of the hound handlers in their kennels, allowing only a few of them out to fight. Ebon Jokers' Command Second: Vincent and his Alanian both stood to defy him, and in the end, Vincent killed Aneirin, while Aneirin's Pirus killed the other's hound. Now there is a heavy sort of pressure on the Ruins. With Kr'ade succeeding Aneirin, and appointing the hound handler Silas as his Command Second, it is surely the dawning of a new age in the Ruins, but it is too early to tell whether this will be a good thing.

Plot Update Written February 1, 2013 A heavy Winter settled on the Ruins. In the early months of cold, Green Hayath rose early and laid a clutch of 3. She shared the sands with Coral Dajith, and the hatching was certainly notable. Two of the hatchlings chose hound handlers in the stands, an event that had not happened in possibly hundreds of Turns. The other oddity was the appearance of a new mutation color - Ash. Ash Tenebraeth has claimed that he will not be the only one to hatch, and the Ruins will simply have to wait and see how future hatchings match up. Silas has stepped down as Second in Command of the Ruins. After much deliberation, Kr'ade has appointed Haddes as his new Second, hoping that the stoic, if morose, man will be able to handle the duties that come with leading the entirety of the Ruins. So far, things have worked out as they should. A new creature has joined the Ruins as well. They are called 'Hlessil', and they will be a welcome addition to the ground forces. The Spinel who came to the Ruins laid a clutch of eggs, and all of them were successfully stolen by the members of the Ruins wishing to bond. The strange creatures had their bonds of varying strengths, and while they are all still working to adjust to this new environment, the Ruins will have to see how the future shapes with the new additions. The largest upset to the Ruins, however, has been the visit from Benden's Weyrleader. Benden Weyr has extended the olive branch, and the Ruins has accepted the help. It has been a caravan of supplies that allowed them to survive the latter part of the cold season, and while many are skeptical, it is still the dawning of a new age in the Ruins. Is Benden Weyr sincere in their aid? Perhaps a new time of peace is coming to Pern? Only the coming months will tell.

Plot Update Written April 30, 2013 Kr'ade is dead! Long live High Ruins! Kr'ade of Blue Icoth has died. The spy from Fort Weyr, Ameca, had weakened the ledge of his roost and it had crumbled beneath Kr'ade's feet. He fell to his death and Icoth went Between. In addition to that, a bronze from Telgar Weyr has come in an attempt to seek vengeance for the death of the former Weyrwoman, attacking Brass Perdoth on the sands. The bronze and his rider have been taken prisoner, and while Kr'ade offered them a home in the Ruins, they have not responded as of yet. This has lead to turbulent times in High Ruins. Even with Benden's support, Fort and Telgar Weyr still rake at the Ruins. In addition to Kr'ade's death, some members of the Crimson Hearts squad have tried to murder E'li of Frost Raiseth. Though E'li survived, the members responsible have not yet been punished, though the instigator has tried to confront Imoriti of Spinel Vakyrisk for selling them all out. As the winter months settle in and the new Neophytes settle in to their new lives, there has been much to worry about. Ch'so of Green Zanth has ascended to Command Second of High Ruins, putting a Green in a position of power for the first time in many turns on Pern. Will Fort Weyr continue with their assault? Will they succeed? Is this the end for High Ruins?
