“This is Inonue Tomoe with the morning news; I am joined by Yagami Light-san for an exclusive interview by NHN regarding Kira’s recent activities in Great Britain.” The young Japanese woman smiled, perfectly at ease with either god’s or a serial murderer’s spokesman sitting across from her. She was dressed in tasteful accordance with the set’s elegant design. This was obviously a one on one affair given the traditional tea set between her and the handsome young intermediary and the lack of an in-studio audience.
“Thank you Inonue-san, it is my pleasure to be here,” Yagami said with a respectful nod to his hostess, and smiled at the camera. He was as always the picture of composure and grace in his expensive suit.
“The pleasure is all our Yagami-san, we are very grateful you took time to speak with us before your flight,” she responded with a respectful nod of her own. “we understand you will be in England for three days acting as Kira’s intermediary concerning The Wammy’s House. I do not think I am incorrect in stating yesterday’s events quite surprised us all. Do you have any specific thoughts you like to share?”
“While I must admit I had no previous knowledge of the actions, I do support them. We cannot allow people who would abuse children as The Wammy’s House did exist. I understand the children were being subjected to rigorous tests and forced competition between one another in order to achieve an impossible goal. The methods by which they were trying to shape these young minds was despicable, all in order to have another L.” Yagami let his eyes grow hard but kept his composure as cool as ever even as he ripped into the unrighteous.
“We understand that The Wammy’s House was something of an anti-Kira terrorist training ground. What are Kira’s plans for these children?” Inonue asked.
“To lead them down the correct path of virtue and righteousness,” Yagami answered easily. “We will turn these young minds from evil to good. We may have been forced to take extreme measures, but understand Great Britain fosters a large population of anti-Kira groups. We could not take the risk of more harm coming to the children from interference.”
“Are you saying then Kira plans on guiding these children’s’ lives?”
“Yes, he means to adopt them if you will, to use them for the benefit of the world instead of breeding yet more corruption and false justice. I can assure you the utmost care will be taken with these youths, far more than ever before,” he smiled then, an expression of such righteousness and tenderness that Inonue blushed slightly with his eyes on her. She coughed a bit embarrassedly at her slip from her character of a serious interviewer.
“That sounds quite…lovely Yagami-san. Nevertheless there has been word two of children have gone missing. Do you care to talk about that?”
“Yes, two girls designated Beta and Archetype were found to be missing. We think they may have become frightened during the initial contact and fled, or were perhaps even kidnapped beforehand. It is very important they be brought back, they must understand Kira does not mean them any harm and is only concerned about their well being. The world is a very dangerous place for two young girls,” he sat forward and looked into the camera urgently as if pleading with viewers. This may have been a Japanese station but snippets of the interview were going to be broadcast around the world; not that he didn’t already have sketches composed by descriptions given by other students posted everywhere possible.
“It was also reported that Ambrose Pierce the leader of the action died shortly after. Do you have any information about this?”
“I can’t say I do, either his death was natural or Kira judged him to be an unfit leader. It is not for me to say.”
“I must say you seem to be quite talented as a spokesman, was it hard for you to change from being a detective?”
“Not necessarily. Of course living in the public eye does have its draw backs though despite the convey of body guards that must now accompany me everywhere I feel far more safe now that I know Kira is watching over me.” He laughed slightly, though few would realize it was far more a personal joke than anything else.
“What about the group to accompany you to England, can you tell me about them?”
“I can’t tell you too much because of security issues, however my group will consist of legal and diplomatic experts from all across Japan. We are all of course very excited to meet our counterparts in the United Kingdom.” He took a sip of tea and cross his legs though he knew the interview must be coming to an end.
“We wish you much luck Yagami-san, and a safe journey,” Inonue replied.
“Thank you Inonue-san.”
