take me away.
Im not listening to you I am wandering right through existence With no purpose and no drive Cause in the end we're all alive alive Two thousand years I've been awake Waiting for the day to shake To all of you whove wronged me I am I am a zombie Again again you want me to fall on my head I am I am I am a zombie How low, how low, how low will you push me To go to go to go before I lie lie down dead Blow the smoke right off the tube

okay, so really the whole reason they had planned on going to the beach was because it was a place where they thought they wouldn't get noticed. or at least where dex wouldn't get noticed. thing was, brook just wanted to have a good time. have time to just them. of course something was always bound to go wrong.

so let's start from the beginning. the alarm had gone off at around ten or eleven o'clock. brook hasn't really taken much notice when she pulled her hand out of the duvet and slammed it down on the alarm clock sitting by her bed. last night had been a long one. over and over again she had sat in her study trying to write something good. something that was eye catching and for someone with creative writing skills it should have come naturally. it hadn't though. so instead brook had spent the past god only knew how many hours trying to get the damned line right on the piece of paper. four am had been when she had gone to bed and both herself and dex had planned on hitting the beach the next day. getting up now, getting up after only a few hours of sleep. it felt almost like being hungover. with a groan brook had pulled herself out of bed wincing as the sun hit her face. that was something she had forgotten to do. close the blinds, every night was the same ritual. you'd think by now she'd have learned.

crawling out of bed though, that was the easy part. it was getting herself ready and getting her stuff together that was the hard part. for the most of an hour brook had found herself running around the damned apartment trying to find her bikini and her swim bottoms. searching through her dresser had almost been a nightmare and trying to look under the bed didn't help either. especially that moment when her cell had started ringing. the shrill noise had caused her to knock the back of her head on the damned underside of the bed. "oh my god. i'm coming. i'm coming." now where the hell had she put the thing? this was one of those mornings where all brook wanted to do was curl back up in bed and sleep. calling sex up and canceling would have been easy but this was the day the two of them had waited on for so long. finding her cell mixed up with all the sheets, she finally answered it.

by the time the conversation was over she heard a car horn. grabbing whatever she could in both hands brook slipped into her shoes before heading out the door making sure to grab her keys before she did so. the other night, well it was a nightmare. heading out the front door she finally made it to the car. "before we go to the beach i need coffee. remind me never to stay up to four am again." slipping her shades over her eyes and dumping her gear into the backseat she climbed into the car a sigh of relief finally escaping her lips as she relaxed.

relaxing was the word of the day.

the place that i know down by the beach
dex hadn't been to the beach in what felt like forever and he kind of really didn't like that thought. he loved going to the beach; they never really did it a lot when he grew up in boston, it wasn't really one of those family things for them for some reason and here the beach wasn't that far away so well. he liked going to the beach. especially if he got to bring the dog and he could just run around acting like a little kid. not that he necessarily needed an excuse to act like a kid, he did that all the time, but that wasn't really the point. the point was that he hadn't been to the beach in way too long, so when he and brook decided to meet up and the beach was mentioned it really wasn't a matter of choice about where they would be going. the beach it was and the beach was awesome. the weather was nice out, nice enough to go the beach so that was lucky, though dex had to say that he did enjoy the beach when it was windy and rain-y outside as well. it was quite enjoyable for some reason. either way though, that wasn't much of an issue at the moment seeing as the weather out was nice.

now dex had been up for what felt like forever. last night had been a very long night and late night; the writing team of up in the air, which dex was a part of, had pulled a near all nighter and he'd only had a few hours of sleep but well. that was really nothing new for dex. thankfully a day at the beach didn't necessarily mean a lot of exercise or anything, so maybe he'd actually get to relax for a while. either way. he'd gotten up sort of late, for his doing, rushed through taking a shower and getting dressed and then grabbed a few things and threw them in a bag, never really knowing what to pack so well. he just brought a lot of things. generally speaking. he was too forgetful to properly back. it was a thing.

it didn't take him long to gather his things though and before long he was heading out the door, closing and locking it behind him, having left a note for his housemates to make sure they didn't think he randomly disappeared or anything. he made his way to the car and then drove the short distance across town to brooklyn's place, not bothering to get out of the car and instead just honking the horn, waiting for brook to come out and make her way to the car then. it didn't take her all that long and he smiled lightly, raising his hand in a greeting as he caught sight of her approaching. he grinned at what she said, shaking his head a little, he then leant over to push the door open for her, waiting for her to get in before starting up the cars engine again. "alright, coffee it is. starbucks?'' he suggested as he shifted gear, speeding up and turning left at the end of the street, glancing over at her for a moment before turning his attention back to the road.

withholding nothing
see through me Cause we're alone and I'm singing this song for you
I've been so many places In my life and time I've sung a lot of songs I've made some bad rhyme I've acted all my life in stages With ten thousand people watching But we're alone now and I'm singing this song for you
